'65 tempest

I'm sure this is going to violate some lame rule...becasue no one EVER thinks it's ok to talk about anything but a third gen....BUT I have the opportunity to buy a '65 Tempest with a rebuilt 326...for $1000, Decent shape..Is it worth it? I don't know much about these.. I have always wanted a GTO..would I be dissapointed with a tempest? I don't know where else to ask this question to car people so please don't lock it...

Same car but with only the basics. GTO would have better brakes, steering, springs, etc.....
Good for a daily driver, 326 is a good engine and a 389/400/428/455 is a drop in for later.
