Shreve's engines in STL

I had an interesting experience trying to replace my busted motor. In STL, there are very few engine building shops. The most reputed shop in town is Shreve's Engine's. I got a 78 short block 350 for $750, after tax, which is the best price in town. The guy that runs the place however is quite easily offended. I gave them my cam from my other motor and wanted it put in this one. When i got there to pick it up, I wanted to check to make sure he put it in there. Well he took that like i insulted his mother or something. Anyway, he flat out refused to sell me the motor on the spot. After alot of apologies and crap I got to get the engine.

All in all, after looking at the engine, I would recommend this place for anyone that needs a replacement engine. The work is superb, at least from the looks of it. He also gave me 4 bolt mains instead of my 2 bolt, which im not complaining about, I just dont know if he meant to.

Anyway, just though I would put my in on these guys.

MBJ machine in granite city is a good place to go. He does good work and is usually willing to work with you to get stuff done. He's built several motors for myself and friends of mine, to the point where we just tell him what we are doing and let him build the motor and call it a day. Really some good guys in my opinion.
