Hey all,
Figured this was the place to introduce myself. I just picked up an 85 IROC-Z with a 5 speed. Almost no rust on the car but it needs paint. Interior is a couple different colors as well so i have some work ahead of me. There are alot of nice cars on this site and thumbing through the pics has given me some really cool ideas. Anyway, now that the formalities are over, im gonna go do a smokey burnout
BTW im in Manteno (about an hour south of chicago)

Its an 85 IROC-Z. Soneone replaced the L69 H.O. 305 with a 350 of unknown origin. It runs strong but the trans is showing some wear, im having issues with 2nd gear. I beleive the trans is the original T-5. It has an open differential and im not sure of the gear set yet. Hmmmm what else.... its a very faded shade of red with grey/black interior. My plans are to paint it solid black with no decals, put a slight purple pearl clearcoat over it, replace the interior with something in a shade of black, and if i can find one id love to swap an LS and 6 speed into it.
I just got the car a couple days ago so as of right now my ambitions are high, lets see what the summer (and my budget) brings.
Ill try to get some pics up asap, apperantly i cant put them in the post so look for them in my profile soon.

Sounds like a cool car. An '85 L-69 is sort of a rare car. I'd personally be tempted to restore it. That's just me though.
Good luck with it!

If it had the original engine i would be more tempted to keep it original, but somoene has already hacked on it so my thought is why not finish it the right way
