Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

It doesn't run. I'm not sure exactly what's wrong with it.
Since i drove it last, i put in a new carburetor then ended up rebuilding part of the original carb.

Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

It stopped running before i replaced the carb. Last time i drove it, the car overheated because i didnt know that there was a leak in the antifreeze line and i had to get it towed

Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

Well that's a different ball game. did you check the compression? Overheating it may have scored the cylinder or cracked the head any number of bad things. why after it overheated did you suspect the carb was the problem

Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

The guy I bought it from, my great uncle told me when I bought it that there was carburetor issues and it may need a rebuild. Right when I got the car, the choke was broken so I had to let idle for a few minutes to warm up the engine before i could drive it

Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

Cody, you can have my motor for 100 bucks if yours ends up being junk.
Mine smokes a little, but runs decent.
It's just sitting here on the K member. It fires right up.

Check the shifter and make sure it's all the way in park. It won't fire up in gear. Also be sure to check your firing order on the plug wires.

Try starting it on ether. Maybe your fuel pump or carb aren't getting fuel into the intake.

Re: Assistance in the lower Wisconsin area?

I have spark and fuel, when i turn the key 3 quarters of the way. Then i get a clicking noise coming from under the hood. I was thinking it was the fuel pump but its too fast for that. I replaced the cap and rotor yesterday so im not sure if i just dont have the right firing order?
