2013 AutoX schedule in central Iowa

Any and all info is in the link. YES i know it is hosted by a mustang performance group and club but don't get your undies in a twist. Everybody is very cool and have not seen any confrontations. With that said, if you bring your f-body don't be "that guy". Besides only half the cars are mustangs, the other half are imports (wrx's, evo's, miatas, s2000, BMW's, etc). This group needs some f-bodies to mix up the competition.w This track is a lot of fun and i would really like to see some more f-bodies run with me. In the link you can see what cars ran last year and their times. I'm in the first to events of 2012, you'll see my 92 Camaro in there. There is a guy with a '10 SS and another thirdgen camaro showed up at the last event. Hope to see some of you there this year.

Noticed the first link stopped working. i know they were re-doing their site.

Anybody planning on going to any of these? It would be cool to meet up with some fellow thirdgen enthusiasts. I can show you all the best places to eat in town!

Yup. First time I was on that track back in June, best time was a 1.30

Re: 2013 AutoX schedule in central Iowa

Good deal.

I definitely need to learn how to drive. It seems like with that track, the more I try to slow down, the faster I go. New tires definitely helped as well. I'm not sure if I'm going to make the invitational or if I'm gonna go to the event at Iowa Speedway instead. I'm leaning more towards the speedway. My car would do well on a bigger track like that one. Not to toot my own horn, but I just have a little too much power for Marshalltown.

More power just means you need to be more careful with the throttle. With my LO3 I can mash it out of the corners with no problems! Wanna trade engines? Haha

I am going to run the Iowa Speedway event with MCCI ON 9/14. That'd be a fun one for your car! $130 if you register before 9/1.

Today was a blast. Best $130 I've ever spent. Crashing in the Lotus wasn't very fun, but hey, least it's not mine!

Absolutely! Did the lotus crash? I missed that. I got pics, some of your car. I'm trying to decide if I want to edit a video of the pics and video clips or just post the pics. Ill post whichever I decide so you and others can see.

I got some good video of us with the go pros I'm going to edit and post up later. Yes, we tapped the tires a little bit with the back of the Exige. Freaked me out quite a bit. I saw the concrete and then the car spun around backwards and we couldn't see if we were gonna hit it or not.

Re: 2013 AutoX schedule in central Iowa

I was all loaded up and ready to go on Saturday. Left my house and headed to the gas station. As I was filling up I was talking to Bizzle about Phish's fuel pump issues. When I got back in my car to leave, it wouldn't start. No fuel pressure. Now what is the chances of that? After a short little heart attack and beings pissed off I just spent $130 for an event I wasn't going to be able to make, I started poking around under the hood. You could hear the relay click, but just for giggle, I swapped it out for the one that controls my fans. Viola. Bad relay. Fortunately enough, the drive there was all highway and the track is fast enough that even without the fans, I was able to keep from overheating. It was hotter than normal, but still under 220.

I had a great time and really suggest this to anyone that's interested. 3 run groups of 10ish cars, 7 sessions per group, 20 minutes per session. A lot of driving. We only ran 4 of the sessions. I didn't bring nearly enough fuel. I think a better baffled fuel cell or something might be in my future so I don't have to be above 1/2 tank of fuel. Bring some good tires if you ever want to come though. It doesn't look it, but around the apex of turns 1 and 2 of the oval, you're at about 105-110mph.

Here's the video. I literally downloaded the software to make the video and had no clue what I was doing, but I think it turned out pretty good for my inexperience editing. All the clips used were from all the runs and kinda patched together. Make sure you watch the end. It's sad. I pee'd a little.

Re: 2013 AutoX schedule in central Iowa

Cool vid! That sucks with the lotus. What's the repair bill on that?

My car ran about 205º on the track which is high considering I have a 160º thermostat and fan switch. I don't have the power you do but I was about 90 through 1 and 2 and 100 in the back straight. It was enough to run down and walk away from some 400+ hp cars. I only ran 4 sessions too cause my power steering pump started leaking. I just feel lucky with 182k on the clock the engine didn't blow!
