Minneapolis, MN- need help finding my stolen T/A

My '86 T/A was stolen in '01 while I was at work. It was a WS6 with the U52 Digitial dash. I found it for sale on autotrader 5 years later with a firebird VIN plate on it. I went and looked at the vehicle to confirm it was mine, and indeed it was. I contacted the authorities to try and get the vehicle back. They didn't do much and the kid selling it got spooked and sold it before I could offer to purchase the vehicle back.

I have been looking for it ever since. The new VIN on the car was last registered in Minneapolis in 2010 according to Carfax. But beyond that I have no way of tracking it. Hoping maybe someone has some info or can help me track it down. Hoping to purchase it again and restore it.

Thanks

Original VIN: 1G2FW87FXGL252997

Last Known VIN: 1G2FX87H4GN202468

First off - good luck and sorry for the loss. Now I assume the insurance company paid you off? If so, The initial post of "find stolen car" makes people leery of getting involved.
I bet the cops visited the kid selling it and that is why it was sold off so quickly.
I think this might be the best spot to possibly find it. We all seem to have eyes for thirdgen's and where they show up. Good luck

You are correct. I was paid off by the Insurance Co. Also, Statute of Limitations is up on this case. So there are no longer any legal ramifications in owning or purchasing this vehicle at this point according to law enforcement. I am just hoping to get the car back again if at all possible.

Did he keep it outside when you looked at it? I wonder if you would have been better off taking it back using your keys.

A few years ago there was a guy at Mecum car auction. He discovered his early 2gen corvette tht was stolen at the auction back in the 60's. Mecum actually GAVE it back to him after the auction. Keep your eyes peeled.
