Has Anyone ever seen the baddest 3rd Gen in the world?
Has Anyone ever seen the baddest 3rd Gen in the world?
Ok, This may sound strange, but several years ago in Car Craft Magazine there was a 89? RS. It was Black, with a alluminum 600 plus cubic inch motor, with 3 4-barrel throttle bodies. Had the two inside headlights missing. Tubbed, Rollcage, etc. Anyway, this thing was supposed to run high 8's on pump gas, and was actually rather drivable on the street. It had 800 plus horsepower clean, with a 300 nitrous shot.
The Owner said he built it to tease Chicago street racers. I still have the Magazine around somwhere. I think it was published in 92 or 93. They did a whole feature on it, and it was pictured on some of the postcards you could send in for a subscription.
Anyway, this is the car that made me fall in love with 3rd gens. Since this is a mid-west message board, has anyone ever seen this car in person, or know what happened to it?
I know this is weird, but I would like to hear about this car again. I'm sure you fellow car nuts can remember what kind of impression a car can leave on a teenage boy.
Hell, please someone tell me that I'm not crazy, and they at least remember the article.

i dont know. it was probably a southside racer, who uh lets say has extra income to build something like that. so obviously it wouldn't be driven much and not would know too much about because it was a street racing car. i'll tell you about a bad *** third gen. how about a twin turbo thirdgen that goes 300mph with power windows
? world record holder
? world record holder The car you speak of was built by ASSC Racing (American Sportscar Service Center). It was VERY fast, and Larry did a nice job setting up the DFI. I don't know what happened to the car, though. That was back in the early '90's...
