Need help with decision...also 82 Pace Car for sale in St. Louis...

Well guys I've got a new engine and tranny and mint interior in my Z, but it also has $2500 (nice paint by reputable shop included) in bodywork to do and a rusty underbody. What do you think I should do? Buy a new Camaro or T/A with a good body and blown engine to plant my combo into or do the body work? I just can't decide and I'm sure some of you have had to make a decision like this before, so all opinions are very welcome....

On another note, on my way to school I've been seeing an orgional 82 Indy 500 pace car everyday for sale latly. Today I stopped by to see if it had a blown engine or something, but it turns out it is mint, everthing works, t-tops, perfect origional paint and body, 80,000 mi., and real. He only wants like $5200 so if anyone in the area was looking for a rare/special Camaro here you go.

Here's my two cents:

Bodywork is ALWAYS a pain, and it is always more expensive or more laborious than was first planned. Personally, I would go with finding a solid body--dropping in a drivetrain is cake. I've been down this road too many times...

I'm keeping my eye out for a car w/o a drivetrain now but if nothing happens by the 28th I'm bringing it into the bodyshop. Do you think I could find a car and everthing for $2500? You woulden't belive how hard it is to find a decent car w/o a drivetrain or other engine problem.

Thanks a lot man,
Matt

I might be able to get you a 91 rs (v6) for not too much, or you can just buy mine and criuse around in style, red leather and t-tops rule, but I can't find it in the fourth gens

Finding a thirdgen with a decent body and bad drivetrain isn't likely. The newest of these cars is 10 years old, don't expect to find one with a mint body unless the entire car has been cared for. Unless you're dealing with a ton of rust, just have the body work done.

Thanks guys. Yeah I've made an appointement to have the body work done by avery reputable shop the second week of Feb. After that I'm getting Mac exhaust, Hedman headers, droping her 2" and she'll be set.
