North Central Illinois

Anyone in North Central Illinois interested in an informal get together in the DeKalb area? The other existing clubs get to be too far away. Drop me a reply if interested.

This is good! Let's see if we can't contact more 3rd Gen owners and get a good turn out. We have lots of time before the nice weather comes to get something organized. Thanks for replying!

Rockford!

Rock On..

Hey Dekalb.. I'm from Rockford IL.

We can meet up there.. but lets see.. we have a Capron, A belvidere, Dixon, Dekalb.. seems like the most central local to meet would either Be Rockford.. Im not saying that because Im from here.. I dont care about the drive. In the summer A lot of people meet up at the Beef-A-Roo in town here. It would be awesome to have all these f-bodies together in one gathering.. I can get 3 of my friends to bring their camaro's, and I will bring my Firebird.. lets all meet up this summer!!

I live south of DeKalb but Rockford is no problem. Only about an hour for me. I'm glad that there are other 3rd gen owners interested in getting together. Everyone see how many other 3rd gen owners you know and let's get something organized.

Anyone have an idea on a date?????

Car-meet

Ok.. How about the one on Alpine
road south end.. right next to bypass
20? it's right by the bypass so it will be easy to give everyone directions to it.. and it has a big parking lot. They have car shows there sometimes. the one on East state street has a dinky little parking lot unless we all parked in the parking lot for the strip mall.
what do you think? as for the date.. My car is stiill in storage yet.. and its still kinda chilly yet.. do you think it will be warmer and nice like on Saturday April 6th?? we could schedule it for then.

Riverside

The one on Riverside is right off I90, also very easy to get to. It is were everyone goes. I hope to hit 13's on motor and 12's on the bottle by the time the car hits the ground.

April 6th will work for me too. I think I can find the location. Will someone post basic directions from the mall? I hope that this will be something that we will want to continue. Good job getting this organized everyone!

Directions

Ok.. if you are coming into Rockford from I-39..

You will run into 20, take the East Belvidere exit.. continue on 20 for about 3 miles and you will come upons some green signs.. stay in the left lane and get on Interstate 90, you will need 15 cents for the toll. take the NORTH WISCONSIN exit. now once youve circled the ramp down, stay in the right lane for about 5 miles and watch for the EAST RIVERSIDE EXIT. you will need 15 cents for a toll. turn left onto riverside at the stop sign and keep driving up riverside through aproximately 2 lights and be looking on your right hand side for BEEF-A-ROO.

FROM BELVIDERE

take west state in Belvidere out of town to Rockford heading toward showplace 16. jump on I-90 from state street and head North and exit on Riverside,(15 cent toll) take riverside exit heading west (make a left) go through couple lights beef-a-roo on right side.

FROM CAPRON, POPLAR GROVE

take route 173 west too perryville road, turn left on perryville road and stay on that till you get to Riverside Blvd, turn right go through 1 or two lights look for beefaroo.. questions about directions email me metal@inwave.com

Great, I'm sure I can find it.

I think this will be a good time. How many cars do you think we will be able to get? What kind of car is everyone bringing? I have a '91 Camaro RS.

I have a couple of questions. This will be the first one of these that I will be coming to. How do things usually work. Just eveyone looking at each others cars or is there more to it than that? How long do they usually last?

See you all on the 6th.

Well.. I think.. first of all... hang around..
wait for everyone to show
up..get to know each other.. look at the cars.. take pictures etc chow some grub.. then.. when everyone has
shown up.. maybe start a muscle car convoy across town filling the town with the roar of rumblin exhaust, maybe stop at the other beef-a-roo's just to freak people out when they see all these cars! stop for a few minutes B.S. and work our way back to the original location! maybe from this event.. we can plan the next event maube in Dekalb.. cruise the campus!!

I see there are some 18 and 19 y/o going to attend. That's cool with me because I don't plan on doing any bar hopping. (although it would be fun).

Just for my own information, what are the age groups planning on attending this gathering? I'd hate to be the "old guy" but I can handle it if everyone else can. I'm just out to have fun.

Age...

I am 31 so you don't have to feel old... everyone thinks im
25 or something tho.. I dont act any different than I did when I was 22.. so I guess that says something.. haha

anwyays.. see you all there April 6th.. A couple buddies of mine will be tailing with me.. and my friend got a small group from the Illinois Camaro Club to bring their cars.. They might be offering recruitment possibly if anyone is interested.. I will bring some forms for the National firebird club if anyone is interested I will give away the forms.. I am a member.
See ya all there..
\

P.S. no need to worry bout bars.. if that was to happen that might be something that would get planned for the evening or something.. just play by ear.. but as for this event.. it's just us and our cars..

Buddies

An Integra? etc.. bring the buds.. butI would say
we mainly would like to focus on FBODIES. thats
what this website is for.. and thats what we are into..
most people on here would agree with me that rice cars
arent welcome in our world.. for the most part,, those cars are
the american muscle car enemy. having a bunch of "rice" cars
show up with the Illinois camaro club, and lots of American Muscle car enthusiast will probably not go over real well..
no offense to anyone.. dont take it personal.. Im just speaking on behalf of the facts. This is a thirdgen fbody website. and we are trying to gather up some fbody enthusiast, have them bring their fbodies.. have a little fun etc.. The Integra and all that stuff has it's own Cliche's clubs, and gatherings.. And that's cool.. Im glad they do.. there is a large cliche of fans of the "fast n furious" style cars.. But I would much rather keep this as it is intended. it juts makes sense. Im SURE most people would agree.
All generations of firebirds and Camaro's welcome! there is
no generation BIAS, I love all the generations of the cars.
I'm sure more thirdgens will show up, and that's cool!
I have a couple fourthgen friends showing up, and I love their cars.. it will be cool/ Just a reminder.. since the actual information is further back in the string of post.. here is the info..

EVENT

Loves Park, IL 61111

hey "fattie92"

****.. I feel bad now.. haha I hope I didnt come across like an ***.. they can come.. I just thought I would point out that those kinda cars WILL get negative attention and that's ONLY because of what it is.. a Firebird and camaromeet.. If I brought my firebird to a nest of Mustangs in a parking lot.. I would expect some funny looks also.
But if they wanna come.. I'm not gonna be a *** and say don't come.. they are probably cool people and they are welcome to come. but it's not the people Im speccifying.. just the cars.. I would prefer to see people bring Fbodies, sincee that's what this is about. know what I mean??? I would kinda prefer not to be rumblin across town and have some car in the lane next to me rattling that tin can bumblebee coffee can exhaust sound.. it just doesnt "represent"

i know where your coming from, and you didnt seem like an ***..but try to understand where im coming from..All my friends have burners and all they do is talk trash about american cars. i have an american car, and will buy nothing but an american car. I havent even talked to them about this yet, casue im still debating if its a good idea or not. I dont have any friends with american cars! the closest thing to an american car is a stealth, and a probe..but still,, they are just "Ricearonie"...i wouldnt mind you guys educating them on american cars, they need to get smoked...well ill beable to do that after this weekend......More than likely when i ask them if they want to go, they will laugh at me and make fun of what they would call a "hick fest." ill probly just end up bringing my only american car loving friend (the probe driver)... but hell ride with me.....i wish i had some american car guys to cruse with .......i mean i wouldnt care if it was a Pusstang,, its still representing the flag...but i was born into a generation of freaking idiots that like rice.....i cant help it.

heh!

heh! that's cool! You sound true at heart and even though you stand in a field of rice patties you stuck to what you like.. Hey!! I tell ya what.. and I'll say this proudly.. If I am a hillrod for liking Muscle cars,.. so be it.. is that really a bad title? which sounds worse? Hillrod or *****? atleast hillrod has "rod" in it.. that means we have a rod, and girls like that.. and it also means we have a "rod" to drive our girlfriends in, not some lame-O rice patty on 4 ultra thin pieces of Yokohomo rubber hahaha.. rock on dude!
See ya there.. Bring the Probe dude too.. hehe

hey!!

Hey chevy power.. well it couldnt
have been me you beat in the race, cuz my car is still stored......
However.. One problem that would hold me back if racing would be my stereo system.. it's too damn heavy.. my car weighs a million pounds cuz of my stereo.. maybe someday I will make my stereo smaller and sell some of the stuff.. hehe.. but for right now its a mass of weight.. otherwise.. my car would prolly be damn quick.. I mean it's quick now./. I have headers, and Flowmasters, K & N filter plus some other bells and whistles.

Just to let everyone know, April 6th is also the opening day at Byron dragway. Byron is only ~30 mins from Beefaroo, so if you have an extra $25 we could leave from there and head to Byron to get some track time. Just a thought.
Rob 25 going on 10.

Heya!

No way!!!!! is it really opening day!

No doubt!! what a awesome day that would be!!
hang out for a bit and then head out to byron.. Hell if ya cant
afford to race go as spectactor too.. fee to watch race is only like 8-12 bucks or something.. and that includes pit pass
sounds like something fun to do after the meet if everyone
is up for it. We could "rumble" all the way down alpine from the
beef a roo, hit bypass 20 racing at high speeds, and hit 11th street south (251) to Byron.

More info on Byron. It cost 25 to run and 10 to watch. Best drive down is take Alpine to 20 to IL-2 (S. Main St.) to Byron. If you have never been to the track this would be a great opertunity for you to go. If you have never been never threat, I not only spend a lot of time racing at Byron I work there to . So if you need any help I can hook you up.

Hey Camaro 18.. you could still bring your woman and her
v6 out to Byron.. I dont plan on racing either.. cuz my car
isnt really race-able yet for awhile.. my stereo weighs too much
and slows down the beast.. Im just gonna go to watch whoever
does race.. and see as a spectactor.
