Take a ride with me.
leaving work on wednesday, i knew i'd be in the truck for a while on thursday, so i figured i'd bring the camera along. enjoy.
these three photos are of local scenery, about 10 miles from my house.

your half asleep ohioian on his 25 mile commute to work.

this is about a block from my work.

wanted to show off the truck, 1997 dodge ram. 318, 4x4 auto. gutless.

i'm in the truck by now, checking things over, making sure i'm ready to go.

i had since left the shop, and headed towards the lordstown assembly plant, where they build the cavalier and sunfire. after delivering a generator there, i took the opportunity to snap some photos on my way out. the plant was first placed into operation in 1964, if my history is correct, and has produced the j-body line since its inception in 1982. it also contained a truck and van plant during the 1970s and 1980s. there is also a metal fab plant here which produces parts for other gm plants.

i don't know if any of the other gm plants put a finished product out, but lordstown assembly puts out at least one model of what they are building. hence the yellow 2003 cavalier you see by clicking the link below.

the next two photos show one of the lots where the finished cars await shipment to the various dealers. in the second photo, you'll see a red 2003 sunfire. the rest are cavaliers.

the next three show another lot, and a few trucks. you'll see some close-ups of the front of the cavaliers, and some side shots of the sunfires.

on my way out, i wanted to grab one last photo, so i got a photo of the lordstown complex sign as i was headed northbound on ohio state route 45.
from here, i went to a john deere dealer up near cleveland. we recently sold a deere x595 garden tractor, and had to have it transferred to us from the one area dealer who had one in stock. nice tractor, but i dunno if i could justify the average starting price of 12 thousand. link to the tractor below.

overall, it was a fun day, and as i stated in another post, i asked a guy at the gm plant how many cars were produced daily, i was told "approximately 1500 cars per day."
very neat, especially confusing the security guards when i asked where the docks were.

of course
yeah, i had been lacking in photo opportunities, so i decided to take advatnage.
i wanted to get some inside photos badly..... but, was on a tight schedule. and i didn't think i'd be popular with security if i was walking through the plant, taking pictures....
these ones were taken from the safety of the truck..
