#492 here

My dad lives up in Mass. and I do agree that social activities need a kick in the butt to get things going up there. Hopefully this will work out.

I must say, you have never been to NYC... just watch whats on TV. Hanging with lots of NY, NJ people that have went to boston said it sucked and that they cant get around the city without losing there minds....

NYC>>>> boston in everything.

I think the closest 1/4 mile track to MA/RI would be in New Hamshier... I know it sucks...But oh well I guess we gotta deal with it.

Im not sure what the seekonk track has. (since i havent been there) but I know it doesnt have a 1/4 mile....

Between the tree huggers and exagerated property values, I doubt it will ever happen in Mass. Seekonk is a roundy round track. The only people who likely could pull this off are the Barlettas. Unfortunately the father recently passed on.
Don't downgrade NED however, they've made many upgrades and the talk is there will soon be a switchover from IHRA to NHRA with the addition of a National Event to NHRA's schedule.

I signed #614. Man it's funny me and my friend Paul both said if we ever do go into a business venture we wanted to build a track in MA. I live in Lowell so going to Epping NH is not to bad about 35-40 mins, but it would be nice to have one in Ma anyway.

It might happen, Gay people can get married here now. But maybe it won't. Fenway Park is probably one of the smallest fields in MLB and the people won't let them build a larger park.

Someone should gather actual signatures @ the Worcester Summer Nationals in July. There is supposed to be 5-6000 cars this year and I bet you could get a lot of signatures...

well, dont wanna get anyone's hopes up, but there is a slight possibility that it may come true. while working for an Advance Auto store in lowell, one of the local shop guys (i believe he owns a motorcycle shop and sponsors some motorcycle nights in the area) apparently bought a nice chunk of land in the area just for the purpose of getting a 1/4 mi track up there. its no where near set in stone, and there's a lot of stuff to be done, but at least someone's trying. i'm not 100% about any of the info, but it was a pretty reliable source.

i guess some food for thought

race track

About ten years ago they opened a old airport in orange mass for one day for 1/8 mile racing to see if they got enough public interest. The place was packed. I had a 1988 monte carlo ss at the time and had a great time.Nothing ever came out of it . I think the town people shot it down.I live in CT and it would be nice to have one closer then Epping or Lebanon valley. Good luck with your quest.

Haha seems like I'm a little behind, but #1357 here!!!

Looks likes it been almost 3 years since this thread started, but word on the streets is Seekonk Speedway got approved for 1/8th mile track and were pushing for a 1/4, I cant prove any of this but I'm sure others have heard about this??

Seekonk is supposedly on it's way to a 1/8 mile track. I've heard the same thing recently (August) and I'm back living in Enfield, CT now (8 years previously in northern Vermont)

A track in mass would be great because I live in ri and nh is way too far to travel just to go a track I would sign it but it says only mass residents can sign it.

A track in the worcester area would be so ideal. I know so many people that hate having to drive up to epping to use the 1/4 so now they dont even bother. Right next to worcester airport is the old leicester airport that still has must of the runways somewhat paved. someone should try and make a race track up there.
