Boston and emissions testing?
What do you Boston/MA people have to go through for emissions testing? Sniffer? Visual? Both?

By the book, the dyno test and a visual. It's almost as bad as cali's as it is based on that test. They are having some serious problems with the software for the test as well and the whole thing is under fire. Not a good test state right now.

How bad are these visual checks, really? As an Alabamian, I have absolutely no experience with emissions testing (w00t). I've been thinking about getting long-tube headers for my 4th gen. Technically, they're not emissions legal because the cats aren't in the stock location. Do they really pay attention to that, or do they just look to make sure the cats are there? I'm pretty sure I could still pass the sniffer.

Ahh, that's why I said by the book. I don't think I have ever had a problem with visual. Actually the only 'visual' I remember is safety stuff. So long as it looks ok and passes the sniffer, I think the monkeys just want your $$. Are you relocating out here?
BTW, how's that tbi?

It's a possibility. We should find out here in the next few weeks. My extremely rare L03 powered '02 WS6 T/A is doing very well, thanks for asking

You really should try and email Dirk or Iroc and see if something could be done. Maybe MarkWS6TBI?
Anyway, good luck. You may not like it too much here at first though. We're a bunch of 'M*******s'.

Never had them do a visual check. Unless they think you got a hole in your muffler. Never even had them pop the hood IIRC. All that matters is if you pass the dyno sniffer test
