Expert TPI tuner in long island
Hi all:
I am looking for either a shop or a member from this board that can get my supercharged TPI car running properly. I am in Brookhaven on Long Island. I don't believe there are any shops that can do this on the island, and most regular mechanics won't touch it. I just need things like my TPS adjusted and maybe a auto x-ray run on it to help diagnose why it runs so rough after it warms up. Can any of you LI'ers help a fellow 3rdgen brother out? (or atleast send me to someone who can?) I could really use your help! It's a new blower motor, and the old blower setup ran fine. This one runs like crap after it warms up./ thanks -Justin

wish i knew someone that could help you
i'm new to 3rd gens
the shop i also work at probably wouldn't be able to help that much since we specialize in honda's and imports
i knew someone that used to have a pretty sick GN on the avenue, name was Don, he was very up on hi tech stuff
only thing i can say is limp the car along to like a bald hill tuesday night, and hopefully an admirer of 3rd gens will show up and offer some more info
i'd be willing to take a crack at it, but after i finish her car (88 formula) i have to part out her 90 and then work on my truck, then it's (if the weather ever phucking warms up) jetskiing time
sides i wouldn't want to take a change of messing something up on your ride, if it were mine, no big deal, but someone elses i'm not comfy with,
i know a few hot rod type of shops, but not sure if they are up on hi tech stuff
longislandperformance.com i think was one.

I might knwo the "DOn" you are talking about.,
Don't think it'll make it up to Bald hill under it's own power, it is really running bad.
If you hear of anyone that can help let me know...i am willing to pay, just want to try to stay close to home.
Thanks for the info, i'll check out the site.

well, the fuel system has been completely upgraded: AFPR, 355 pump, 26lb inj, pressure gauge etc.
The Car is not throwing any codes,...so I don't think it's a MAF. plus i disconnected it and it doesn't seem to run any different. I took apart the timing cover today to see if the cam to crank gears were out of sink, but they are not. Just curious, what if the crank gear was installed incorrectly on the A or R? It looks like it was on at 0, but would it even run if it wasn't. The car sounds like it's running out of valave timing. But again, i check the cam gear position and it's correct. I guess it could be a valve hanging open, or a sensor, or an intake leak or a million other thiings....I don't know what to do! please help! thanks

what's up George? how you been, lost your email when the computer crashed. Vette doctors won't look at it. I got it running better now,..but need some help getting the base timing right. can't get it dialed. Then I have to get a chip. u still got your car?
I can tell you how you can tune that TPI and TPS on it. First off dont turn the screws anyone that adjust the screws on the TPI is doing it wrong. There is a step by by step procedure to do what you are trying to. Ive done it on both my z28 and corvette and it works great let me know i can send you the instructions and walk you through it.

vingta1989,
imy old setup ran great, i think the cam is a little crazy for this setup, and the compression is a little lower, so i don't have the power with the cam i picked.
