Im 19 and just got my first car 12/22/05. 1986 camaro. All i need is a few thing and i got a great car. But now things are going to hell. I cant find a job anywhere and i might have to sell my car. I bought it for 4000 but i will take 3500. Either that or somebody out there give me a job please. Im young I graduated high school im 6 feet tall 250 pounds of box lifting, truck loading, concert breaking man. I will take a meat head job please anything so that i can fix my car. I got a 350 crate that has 2000 miles on it with 340 horse a body that got 85k miles on it wit rebuilt 5 speed. ALL it needs is a head liner, reupholestry on the driver seat(its not a must) and some paint(another thing i can probably get anyway with) and some weather stripping. It sucks i couldnt even register the car yet its just sitting in my friends drive way in long island(I have the title and bill of sale). PLease i want to keep my car so i can go back to school and try to show my exgirl friend im not a complete WASTE OF FLESH. A job would save my skin a hunder times over but if i cant get nothing i need to sell cause im going to go try to drive a tank in iraq, at least there i dont have to struggle to pay insurance.

PLease anybody interested ill take down your info, put if i could get some work that would be better. At least youll know i cant be like the rest of my generation, I LOVE CAMAROS.

Why would you buy an 86 for 4K? I bought my 92 Vert for 1K and all it needed was a paint job.

a vette for 1k sounds crazy it must have a million miles on it or you stole the thing. UNless vert is something else.

By "vert" he means a convertible...a convertible Camaro, I think.

Hope you find a job soon so you can keep your ride. It's hard when you are young and just starting out in life. Good luck.

Why Beat Up On The Guy?
Who cares how much he spent on his car. That is his business and his alone.

You would think in NYC there would be tons of work. Menial, labor intensive as well everything else. Check the want ads, go to your local employment office and pound the streets. There is work out there if you really want it. Just show some confidence when you go in and ask for a job.

Nothing wrong with joining the military. Good pay and benefits. Teach you a skill, and not every field will put you in harm's way. This is a good option unless you are a Hillary Clinton / Ted Kennedy style Democrat, Hollywood movie star, card carrying ACLU leftist, or a everyday draft dodger.

Good luck with whatever you choose to do!

its funny i live in nyc and every job that would be perfect, construction, moving, and things of that nature is occupied by illegal mexicans. Why would they pay me 70 bucks a day to do a job when they will pay some illegal 40. THe only other job i could get is maybe a job as a bouncer but im still to young. I spend alot of time looking for jobs and its like employers either want me to work for pennys or they hire mexicans. Its insane what happens out here, thats why alot of guys i used to know are freaking drug dealer or just bad guys. In january i sent out crazyamounts of applications and nothing.

I would like to see pictures of this 1000 vert, Thats another thing that i spent alot of time on, looking 4 cars. Whats ur mileage and when did u get it?

thanks for the input guys

You want my advice? The only reason i was able to buy my Z was because all through out hs and after that, i worked at a deli on long island. Once i graduated, i begged and pleaded for more hours until they had me working 40-60 hours a week, along with my over night job at cvs once a week. i mean you wont get much per hour at a deli, maybe 6 or 7 bucks, but if you bust your tail, and put in insane hours, youwill get bumped to manager and thats when the dough gets a lil better. Plus at a deli its great! you dont waste money on gonig out to lunch, or anything liek that! free food, and drink and stuff. look into it. i know a few of them out on the island by me, but it would be a bit of a trek for you coming frmo brooklyn. Keep us updated on the job hunt!

There was an article in the Times a few months back about how teenagers and older citizens are unable to find jobs. Organizations found it cheaper to employ illegals for both the purposes of wages and insurance. Its not only the wages - they could pay you 40 as well. However, if you're an undocumented alien, its a lot easier to get away with not having any insurance to cover you in some jobs.

I got a 86 with a 350 ho crate edelbrock manifold with a 650 cfm holley, 5 speed 3 inch exhuast no cats but the mufflerin in my opinion is trash. I need to do alittle interior work(driver seat headliner). That paint could be alrite with a good detail but i would like to throw a fresh back on.

I have to keep the option of saleing it open so pm if anything.

I forget there was a pm till recently so if u pm'ed me before and i didnt answer sorry. Ill check it from day to day now

I honestly dont think your gunna get 3500 for an 86 witha crate 350 and a t5. First of all, that t5 has about 20 miles left in it under extreme throttle out of a crate 350. t5s could barely handle the 300 pounds of torque the 305 made. I say you may not have gotten ripped off if you really like the car, but then again dont expect to get back what you paid for it. expect closer to 2k. I say keep the car and driver her till she pops.

Keeping the car would be nice but since you just got it probably no attachment to it either. You could always get another one later but either way here are a few jobs in the Brooklyn area though I don't know how far they are from you, just copy and paste them. You should be able to find something, keep looking & good luck. Hope this helps:

The tranny was rebuilt to run with it. The body got 85k on it and the crate has less then 9k. Check out the yahoo.com autos and for sale 11223, or any other internet used auto site. That will tell u how much i will get. I seen a car with 90k and the guy said it had 300 horse, i get there the interior is riped up, the car is stock and at the end of the ride it was smokeing. Guy wanted 4k, funny thing is he sold it for that price.

Thanks for the listing, i should have a job coming my way but im goin to call these guys anyway. Hopefully these job sites arent in the middle of those super high crime areas. u have to carry a gun to cash ur check , new york is retarded.
