Keeping warm during winter...

I live up in Maine...I have a place this winter to work on my car the issue is that its not insulated. (and I cant afford it). I have a space heater to warm the area..anyone have any ideas for anyways to help keep the heat in even just a little? I know i was thinking about hanging up some plastic or something on the walls and ceiling..maybe to help a little?

Any thoughts?

Do you have any kind of a budget at all?

If not, then cardbaord is a good insulator. Instead of plastic, save/find all the big boxes you can, cut them apart so they are flat, and attach them to the walls, doors etc. Double-or triple-up in thickness for more benefits.

Not sure what the R value will be...obviously not much at all compared to traditional insulating products...

If you intend to use it on a regular basis, the money saved on fuel will far outweigh the cost of some Owens Corning insulation.

This of course assumes that your "space heater" is a reasonably sized gas heater. If you're planning to tinker with some little dinky electric heater, just strap it to your chest because those things will never heat a freezing cold room up, and can't even maintain temperature in anything above a tiny bedroom.
