Checkin' in!

Hello all!

The name's Jim. I'm new to the F-Body scene, but not to Chevy cars. My last car was an '88 Caprice 9C1.

Anyway... I think you can see on the side that I have an '87 IROC with the 305. The motor is the downside... the upside is that I get to row my own gears!!

Anyway, I'm here to learn what I can about my car (I'm not too familiar with the TPI motors at all) and to chill out.
If anyone near Portsmouth, NH/Kittery, ME ever wants to meet up, I'm game!

Welcome as well.
Sounds like my luck too, always seem to find those 305 cars for sale, even when they claim its a 350..
But, on the bright side, you can always fix the 305 issue with an engine hoist.

I don't think it's bad luck at all... I specifically wanted the 5M, so I knew I had to get the 305. Where I'm not super familiar with F-Bodies, I am familiar enough to know that GM never backed a 350 with a 5M.

And the plans call for the 305 fix to be in the form of a 383. Yeah, that means the 5M has got to go, but a 6M should swap in nicely. This was the idea all along; I wanted teh 5M to minimize the amount of fabricating that would need to be done to convert a 4A to a 6M.
