Honest Muscle Decisions....
Honest Muscle Decisions....
Alright, I know this is a third generation site. But I need some of your insights. And I don't want biased cr@p like, "I drive a Camaro, everything else sucks!" I want an honest opinion. And no statistics of how many cars were sold or any of that nonsense. I want you to put yourself in my situation, and make an honest decision.
So here it goes, if you know already I've been(scratch that)...
You have been looking for a Camaro. You have always wanted one. It was your dream as your first car. Not a 1st, 2nd, or 4th gen Camaro. You want a 3rd gen Camaro either Z28 or IROC-Z, at the very least 8 cylinder. No 6 cylinder. You have power and speed in mind.
You have been looking since June for a Camaro. It is now November. And you are tired of drivin your Dad's '80s Grand Am. You want a car of your own. You only have around $3000 to spend. And since you want to supe up the car you get, you do need some extra cash too. So you're stayin at $3000 for the price of your car (or a lesser amount of course). You're getting real desperate now. Because you have seen 4 Camaros so far. The first was an Iroc 350, needed lots of work, more than the average teen wants to do. Then a Z28, but it burned oil. Another Iroc 305, way overpriced $7000, big giant no, no (I don't know how you sellers think someone will buy such a car, for such a price, plain and simple, its bull ****). Now getting desperate moving towards an RS 305. But that turns out to be sold.
Now you're getting Real desperate, you're laughing at yourself at the waiting game you're goin through. You're starting to go literally insane, thinking maybe that long dream of a Camaro as a first car won't come true. Being that you're so desperate you go 30 some odd miles to see another Iroc 350, but it is bad shape, and also burns oil. Now you just start brushing it off, you're used to this. But you have persistance you still keep checkin, lookin, researchin, and checkin again.
Found another car, Iroc 305, this one is even further 50 miles away. You make an appointment with the seller to see it. Now you're thinking this is it, this is the one. You can see just how desperate you are, and also see the lack of Camaros around you. You go to see at a mall type area, to cut down the traveling distance a little. You go there, but no sign of the Camaro. You call the guy back, he says Oh sorry it was sold last night! Can't you just feel the joyfulness come over you? Yeah right! You're p!ssed once again. So after all that searching constantly, over and over, you just can't seem to obtain a Camaro. But you love Chevy, you love the Camaro. You need one!
But once again, that infamous word, you're desperate. Now here's your options, theres an 90 Camaro RS 305 for sale, and two other cars... 89 Mustang LX 5.0 and a 91 Mustang LX 5.0. You really want a Camaro, and you love Chevy. You don't want to diss Chevrolet, or Camaro owners, but... By looking at the history of the search, its just taking too long! Its so much easier to buy a Mustang, because theres more of them and less expensive, and you're just making it harder on your self looking for that "one" Camaro. Now either settle with a 90 RS 305, that is somewhat underpowered, or LX 5.0 that has great power? You want power, but you also want looks. Those are your options, or are ya just gonna keep waiting for a "solution that will never come?" Whats an honest answer to this? You're having such a tough time, making decisions, and its taking so long, its just way too much. You need your own car!
Please any honest help and advice, would be extremely appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read, Tom

Only buy a Mustang if you like-
going around corners slowly
cheap interior
boxy looking
Just hang in there and be prepared to drive a little further- the right car will be worth it. In the meantime can't you save a little more cash? Therefore a nicer car?
Don't let the little things about a car get to you- look for great body paint/needs some mech work or great mech shape/needs some body work. Don't buy a chaep one that needs both.
Wait for a nice IROC- they handle great with the 16" tires

Since I've been going through almost the same thing I can understand. I've been looking for the car in my sig for a WHILE now and still haven't found it. Theres always something, either the car isn't that good or the price is ridiculous. But in the meantime I have an 89 RS.
For $3,000 your aren't going to get the best Camaro thats for sure. The M*****gs are cheaper cars so your amount would probably be better spent there since u might get a car in better condition for that price, but u are buying a F**d and could be putting LOTS of money into it, I've seen it before with those cars, it could be with any car but they are more prone to it from what I've seen. If u are looking for speed, for $3,000 in Camaros u will probably only be able to buy a V6 while with the M*****g u could most likely get a V8. I wouldn't get the M*****g but thats me. I don't like them. U have to do what u want. I would wait a while more.

You know, it amazing....In my neck of the woods...You cant touch a mustang for less than 4000, but the best 3rd gens are only like 2 to 3 grand, and there are tons of them...the stangs are few and far between.
Maybe you should live around here...Just hang in there, you'll find your dream

What shape is the car your driving now in. If I were you I would buy a decent looking Camaro that maybe needs a new motor and is cheap, this way you can drop in a crate motor or do a rebuild and drive the beater. That's what I wish I had, believe me when you get your nice Camaro you'll want a car that you can drive around in, in bad weather. But I wouldn't rush. And to me there is nothing wrong with a Mustang. I've owned 2. Just by putting a wing and cowl induction hood on them they look awesome. Also since those are LX's you're looking at they're the lightest. By the way are they coupes or hatches. I would love to get my hands on a LX coupe.
