on 4th gens firebirds/trans ams, they have the insert where the filler bird ussually is, and in order to mount it, you have to remove the filler peice...but you can get clear onces to go over the plate. it looks gay, but better then nothing...

i grew up in Buffalo, NY and now live in Rochester and i refuse to put a front plate on any of my cars. i think the front plate looks absurd. the manufacturers never put any thought into how to mount a front plate and make it look half way decent. i think in the 11 years i've been driving i've only received a ticket for no front plate i think maybe 4 times (**knock on wood**). twice i talked my way out of it saying my plate braket was broke in a recent fender bender and i hadn't found a new one yet, one time the ticket was dropped and the other time i only had to pay a $50 fine. usually, police won't pull you over for just no front plate. it's one of those tickets that gets tacked on when you do something worse like speed. i don't know why NY requires 2 plates. there are many other states that don't.

I don't have the front plate on my Camaro but it's not my everyday driver. Even still, I got pulled over once and the cop didn't even mention it. It looks so much better without it so you can see where it says Camaro in the front. Think of all the Corvettes without them also.
I used to carry it in my backseat but then stopped even doing that. If your car is in pretty good shape you can always say you were in an accident and had the whole front nose replaced and in the accident the front plate and holder were destroyed ;-)

Front Plates
From what I read it has to do with the now new scanning as they drive
past you. But that is what they are saying now..what was the reason before
they said to pass you and if it was a possible stolen car they could call it in and turn around to chase it...

Yep, those white plates really stand out on my blackbird. I was looking for something to cover the front plate over, like maybe smoke colored lens. I have seem lots of other cars with those lens plates on the back.

those tinted license plate covers are illegal in NY too. since you're going to get a ticket either way, you might as well just not put the front plate on.

we have a front plate rule here in mass. Ive had my liscense for 5 years now and have NEVER run a front plate on any of my cars. Ive gotten citations twice for it and took it to court both times, and beat it both times. To me its not worth drilling holes in my bumper and messing up my paint just so the police have somethgin to air their ****ing lidar guns at as im drving down the road.

IIRC, and I stress IIRC, any cover over a plate is illegal in NY. I was told this when I had a clear plastic cover on my last car's plates.
