Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
i had issues with my stock replacement starter, car would not start when hot, after i put the headers on it got worse, i took that piece of junk out and threw it away, bought an LT1 mini starter from turbobuicks.com, best thing i ever did, my car starts all the time and easy.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
We'll I've spoken to a bunch of guys about my possible engine knock and a couple of them have checked out my car and told me to get new plugs, wires, cap and rotor. It might be something with them because theyre old and sat and might be fouled. Some of my plug boots are burned and such so maybe it'll help. My 421cid rotating assembly is on hold now.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Well I will be there for sure. Then Sunday i will be up at Chevyfest in Epping.

It will be the first car show I will enter into officially. Hope things go well. Still a lot of stuff not done on the car, but oh well. Next year the car will be WAY better looking in terms of detail. But I will show what I got since it is only $5 to enter in the show.

Anyone going to chevyfest. I am heading up early to enter my car and drive up with a local 4th gener (trish) who is on the e-mailing list. Should be a great time. Weather looks like it is working out too. Its $28 to race, but I will be concentrating on the show this year.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
So I think that makes 4 of us for sure so far. People wanna start adding to that list if they are def going... I know there has been some emails about people not being able to make it. I know there must be more than what I am listing but from the last few posts is what I am basing this on... Please update soon so that we can all get a good idea of who is going and help AC plan this out better so it goes on without a hitch.

AC's BBQ
Dennisbernal91z
86Z
Celticsfan
Brother Al
Jay
manifoldsrme
tourville
86midnightblue

apart from AC of course, haha.

Chevyfest
Dennisbernal91z
Trish (from LS1tech)
Chris (also from LS1 tech)
manifoldsrme (maybe?)

anyone else...?

Weather looks good. Too bad people work on Sat. I know of at least 4 others that could make it if it was at night. But oh well, hopefully people who can't make the BBQ can make it up to chevyfest. Should be a great time. Weather looks like it is going to work out both days too!

The drive up to Epping is going to be great

I will be there for sure, and my car will also. As of 8:30 this morning it legal.. well for the next 10 days anyway lol. I gotta schedule an appointment for emissions testing and hope it passes. I am shooting for Friday for that.

I can't make Chevyfest. I still have way too much work to do on the car.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
If you are close by, there is a good chance we will be there well after 2. Its planned to go on till it gets dark. You should try to make it. I know people working till 5 that might still try to make it that live in MA, where I do. Chances are it won't be worth it for them, but if people working are close by, def try to make it happen. Should be a great time!

I will see how much smoke these new 555Rs make!

I will be at the barbeque, and I am seriously considering going to Epping, because I want to get on the track at least once before winter. Plus I have the ok to build a new engine this winter from the wife! Nothing fancy, just a 305 with forged pistons because I am going to be supercharging it someday.

Just and FYI, the BBQ could very well go into the night (I mean after dark). I'm not planning on an all night rager but hey, if people want to hang out for a bit no problems with me.

Well I think I may be heading up into Enfield on Saturday after work to pick up a new front wheel for my bike (my other hobby, I do freeride/bmx). So if I do end up going up there I'll definitely stop by for sure. The whole night thing won't work since I plan on hanging with some friends that are visiting from college, and I haven't seen them in about 2 months, so that'll be priority for me.

i am a registered user at nems and read the forums all the time, for one reason: entertainment. i'm sure there are some good people somewhere deep down in those boards, but they rarely show themselves and when they do they get shot down by an infinite number of ###holes and immature old men. i have never posted on that forum and gotten anything except a bunch of jerks respond as if they were middle school girls. i know you post on there a bunch and i'm glad you like it and i think that you have honest and productive comments from what i remember. i just dont have the patience to post there. also, i check the classifieds daily and after following alot of stuff it very very rarely, if ever, sells from someone buying it who is a member of nems, it gennerally sells in the want ad or on CL.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Are you sure the pump died and it's not a wiring issue?
And it's not easy to change the pump out, but not that hard. Basically you need to empty the tank, get the back of the car up in the air, remove the rear end and suspendion, pull the tank out. Swap pump, reverse order.

Hey everyone in MASS, Read my thread ATTENTION MASS!!! about an upcomming exhaust bill. Call your Reps BEFORE OCT. 2nd and voice your opinion 'cause this bill will make our lives miserable. Be nice to them and if you could write them an Email too that'd be awesome!
-
Dennis, I can't make it to Epping, love to though but I got a lot to do Sunday, Sorry.
-
BTW, for those of you that can't make it Sat. Dennis' Camaro is THE NICEST modified Third Gen I've ever seen. Not only does it look good, but it's very well put together and would be a terror on the strip. A real testament to his abilities to build one kick @** ride!
-
That sucks Tourville, sorry to hear that.
-
My 'Bird's givin grief still. I'm gonna drop off my 'Bird at a shop to do the brakes. I know, I know, shame on me. When I went up to meet Dennis Saturday, my right front brake started squeelin and only stopped when I pressed the brakes. I figured it was the warning tab, but I've been so busy lately. I finally had a chance to pull the wheel today after I got off duty, Pads are almost gone up front and my fluid's going brown. I really don't have much time and not enough today to bleed it right. I also discovered that both front struts are starting to leak, they're the originals so not bad. Wish my damn Blazer's shocks lasted that long..LOL! This is gonna be fun! My headliner is finally all falling down now. Gave out on the way back from the meet with Dennis. Oil seeping out onto the drivers side of the intake, right under the carb and my SES came on while enroute to meet Dennis. I've only put about 3,500 on her since this spring too, dammit!!!! I'll see you all at the BBQ Sat!

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Sorry on the fuel pump...I don't have it anymore. IF it is your fuel pump my suggestion is way the cost of putting a new Walbro 255lph in or any 255lph pump for that matter. You'll need it if you ever get into high horse apps or forced induction.

Brother Al, Dennis' car is sweet **** but, you haven't seen my car !(joking) Mine only idles right now....no burnouts....yet

Yes, BBQ is still on for Saturday. We have about 10-12 members saying they'll be here. Same goes as last time, I provide the place, burgers, soda, livations, horseshoes, chips, etc...you bring something if you'd like and I'll try and take care of the rest till dark. After dark I'm sure I'll be in my garage wanting to tune so people are more than welcome to hang out for awhile. Something to SIT in is a MUST...I only have like 6 lawnchairs and a picnic table.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
have not fully diagnosed the car.. but the fuel pump relay is clicking and the fuel pump is not turning on.. if i press the little pressure gauge spot for the fuel i have no pressure at all in it.and i even tried manually priming the fuel pump with the relay and still heard no fuel pump if its that much of a pain to get the pump out and replace it maybe ill have k&b auto on broad street do it for me, i know steve so he wont rape me on the price and i wont have to worry about doing it myself

tourville: Sorry to hear about the pump. Hope you get it worked out with minimal headaches.

Brother Al: Thanks for the nice words. The final gauge is going in tonight making the grand total 10. Seems like a lot, but I use all of them when driving. Finally I will just be tightening bolts here and there and cleaning b4 AC's so that the car makes it there happily, .

AC: I can't tell you how badly I wanna see another highly modified third gen, (to steal ideas from) .

Anyways, too bad just about no one can make it to Epping. I will be with my best friend, my gf and then a couple 4th gens. So at least I will not be alone. I will post pics and let you guys know if I win anything.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
tourville, 1st, take the little connector off in front of the gas tank this provides fuel to the pump. see if you are getting voltage, if you are then it's the fuel pump, the pump isnt hard to change, do you have an aftermarket exhaust? that makes it easier to disassemble, you do not have to remove the rear, just the shocks, and lower it as much as possible, i had to pull my tank twice.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Too bad those pumps are IN the tank. If you plan on doing some other mods to it or whatever you can always try and swap over to external style like me. But that will be more work... Good thing is you can buy a rebuild able pump for not too much and be worry free forever.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
well i have to look into this more tomorrow.. i think the reason the pump was not primming anymore is cause it was fully primmed.. i tried to hear it this morning and it primed no problem.. but wouldnt run.. but still have no pressure in the fuel rail piece where you can test the psi or w/e comming out. my lines are old and i actually just noticed that they are rusted.. so i will be replacing those first and then going on from there. do they make direct replacement lines? is this going to be hard?

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Tom, are you talking about the 10-12 inch long fuel lines coming off the hard lines on your frame rail (driver side)? The short lines are real easy. I know I have a few of those laying around. The hard lines though reaching from your engine bay to the tank aren't hard to replace but they're not cheap if I can remember. There ARE places you can get pre-bent factory stainless steel replacements.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
have not had a chance to look under the car to see if they are rusted under there but the ones that i can see that are rusted for srue is the ones in the engine bay that are visable. that connect to the rubber hose then to the engine. ill be looking more into the underneith tomorrow after work before it gets dark out

No, it's a friends car. She's had issues with it for awhile now and is dropping off here to get fixed. Basically it gets fixed or she's selling it.

In other news my car failed the emissions test today Not by a whole lot, but I have 30 days to get it figured out.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Hmm. too bad you can't take it up here to MA, you can find places near boston where you just toss the guy an extra $20 and BAM, car magicaly passes. The just turn on a shop car and swap the hose that sucks up the exhaust.

Some people might say thats how I got my 91 to pass. Long tubes, so cats and a 4' catback. All with a motor built like it was the 60's. lol.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
Too many issues like that here in CT so they switched to a crazy system. It's all monitored on camera now, they have retinal scanners to activate the test blah blah.

I'm pretty sure I can tune the PROM and get it to pass... but I can't scan the car with the new laptop. Maybe tomorrow at ACs we can hook it up to his setup and look it over quick

HC (PPM ) - Limit = 88; actual = 97
CO (%) - Limit = 0.28; actual = 0.15
NOx (PPM) - Limit = 614; actual = 956
RPM = 1412

Jay, a nice new cat will put those numbers in line, i had the same issue with no cat.

Tourville, your lines are just rusted on the outside, if they were bad they would leak, especially with fuel pressure, i doubt you have restriction in the lines, do you have a fuel pressure gauge? my pump was priming at one time but no pressure, had a bad injector that was stuck open.

Re: Any interest in a CT thirdgen meet
no i dont have a fuel pressure gauge and have never checked it before or anything like that.. i just know there is no pressure comming out of that little nossel on the fuel rail when i poke the thing in.. none at all. im not every good with looking for problems with no fuel going to the engine so i guess its going to take me a little while to figure out.

well i just cracked open the lines near the intake and there is fuel pressure in them all the way through to where the intake is. so after that i have no clue where to start looking. fuel injectors?

if your pump is pumping fuel to the motor and you have no pressure in the rail then it's a couple things, the fuel pressure regulator or an open injector, but with an open injector it may start, do you have any fuel in the vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator?
