NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

This serves as the first post in an area we hope will grow to communicate members of the NECF clubs ideas, announcements, generalities. I'm AC, the CT head of the group and dennisbernal91z is the MA head. If you're interested in the club then PM either of us and we'll add you to an email distrbution list so that when things are communicated outside of TGO you're in the loop. Our basic reason for being is get a great group of guys, girls, cars together and represent 82-92 3rd gen F-bodies. Stock to modified to not running at all you're all welcome in. Enjoy the ride!

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

Thanks for the props guys. I'm looking forward to putting the belt onto my super charger. The steps are: Over winter finish the exhaust, buy an Ostrich for tuning, fab up 2 new xmembers; 1 for the tranny and 1 for the torque arm, then come spring get it tuned, dyno run on the new setup, put the blower belt on, re-tune, re-dyno and go change my pants after I calm down from the excitement
All kidding aside, so here we are in a temp spot hopefully until we can get an actual site of some sort up and going.
Hello Quadgoat and welcome. I got your email and will include you in the emails I send out to the rest of the club. In regards to organizing people to meet if you look at the original thread that started all this (start at post #1) in the "Anyone interested in a CT thirdgen meet?" you'll see how it all transpired.

Well, back to work as I have to prep for some more travel.

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

signing on. AC I can't wait to see that vid. Can't hear at work.

Sounds like you got some fun stuff to do over the winter.

I am planning mine out too. Looks like I am doing some exhaust work to clearance the body in 2 places. Also I am re doing my interior and making my wires neater. Then finally covering the 6 point. After that is all squared away. I want to make some custom panels out of fiberglass. Should be fun to learn how to use it.

After that, since all that will only last be about a month, the intake and cam are going in, as well as finally testing out my 200 shot on the dyno.

And it sounds really funny to say this, but I think thats it. (apart from the wetsand and hinge replacement)

Then just going to school and waiting till I get out to buy some turbos or something so I can join you guys in the "boosted" community.

Got to say though running N/A has taught me a lot and at a good pace. After the winter I will be ready to learn another can of worms.

8+ hours up from where? My aunt and uncle live in Killingworth CT and it takes me between 5 and 6 hours to get there from here, depending on traffic. I went to school in Poughkeepsie, NY and it took me 7 hours to drive there. Once you hit the Maine border, it's about another 2.5-3 hours to Bangor

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

Bull, no worries. If your in New England than your part of it. My hope would be is you get enough of an advance notice to any "event" the club organizes so you have a chance to make it to wherever that even takes place. A BIG one will be next years summer nat's in Worchester. I bet we "bring the love" to that one. There is going to be a minimum 4 cars with forced induction and high #'s to boot, then the rest of our well preserved and well underway rides. Should be a really good time.
If you'd like to be included just PM dennisbernal91z or myself and include an email address, location, short car stats like year, model, color, etc and your in. We're in the infancy of organizing this but we seem to have a good amount of interest and dennis and I are the 2 heads of the group so chances are things will continue to move along.

AC I have been getting info from a couple other guys that I have added that maybe you don't have. Maybe every month or so we should trade lists to make sure we both have up to date master lists.

Once the website is up we will just have the master list there.

We don't have a way to host yet. Still trying to find a way to get a web site up and running. NECF.com is taken as well as many others. I found that NECF.us is available. Do you know how to get a site and running????

You could go with a hosting service or you could get a server and host it yourself, using a service such as http://www.no-ip.com/ (15dollars/year) to redirect to your site.

Ugh.... I know so little about web site and hosting and stuff. I wish i could give more input. The $ is nothing practically.

I wouldn't even know how to start a website or how to make one.

I was hoping that someone else in the club would take care of this part.

I know how to get a web server up and running.
You just need a fast internet connection and an old PC with a good network card and a lot of storage. However, i have no idea how to get a forum up and running.

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

While I haven't actually USED it, my server service (crosswinds.net) provides scripts for pHpBB and a few other forum/blog type apps. I'll try to mess around with it in the next week or so and see what I can figure out. If I figure something out, we could use my site temporarily, it could be like necf.pontiacfanatic.com I know it's not ideal, but maybe it would get us by for a little bit?

http://www.simplemachines.org/

Maybe this would work?

I think I can get a hold of a server. Would you guys prefer a *nix server or a windows one?
I can install either, once I find a usable machine. I actually have one in mind. (My weekend job is at a recycling center. Machines come in all the time)

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

I added NECamaro-Firebird.org .net and .com to my service.
It's in process right now, but tomorrow should be up and running and able to be changed to whatever.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Seems like it's up and running. any of the following link to the same place
http://www.NECamaro-Firebird.org
http://www.NECamaro-Firebird.net
http://www.NECamaro-Firebird.com

Most variations on the NECF idea are taken, and they are all different sites. I put up a temp place holder, and I can try and put together something a little better this weekend. If some has the skills tools to build a website beyond a very basic one, feel free to let me know. Unfortunately my main computer decided it doesn't want to turn on anymore, so I have no graphics program. I had a few ideas I was kicking around.

If the domain name choice becomes an issue, it's easy enough to forward a different one at another time, and mask the host server domain( site space is hosted under the necamaro-firebird.org domain )

Nice, Jay! Does your server have provision for an SQL database so we can get a forum up and running? If so I bet we can have a preliminary setup using phpBB in a few days!

AC - Not sure if it's the power supply, mines not that old. I'm going to try swapping some spare parts I have. weird thing is this is the second time it's done it. I replaced the MB, CPU, Memory and power supply about 2 years ago when it just stopped turning on... worked fine when it was on. The last few times I turned it on I had to mess with the power button for it to power up. I'll probably start with a new case and build from there.

Any ideas either post here or send to my email. Same goes for anyone. I can put together a basic site this weekend. If there are any members that have more skills/resources than I ( I am somewhat limited in both lol ), you are more than welcome to help out.

Welcome Bull & Quadgoat!
-
Bull: You're not alone! I'm a W.Mass'r Too, LOL. I live in Chicopee.
-
Quadgoat: We spoke before on your post about your 'Bird's build up. Glad you're onboard w/ NECF. Again, very nice job with your 'Bird. She looks awesome in that color.
-
Nick: I'll call you Friday 'cuz I've got a lot of stuff to do tonight. That nose is supposedly for an '88 Iroc, has all the lights intact, and the front valance. I havn't seen it, but its in Springfield. I'll try to meet up with the guy to get a good look at it, so you don't have to make an unnecessary trip out here. I'm sure I can talk him down from $100 too.
-
P.S. anybody looking for a complete TPI (305?), wires , comp and all? Same guy has it for $200. I'm sure he'll take half that if you flash cash...LOL.
-
AC: Looks like I can make it Saturday, but I gotta be at a meeting for 1PM, so I'll have to leave by Noon. I'll call you Friday...meet at your place?
-
Dennis/ All: Who's coming to the Thompson Swapmeet Saturday?
-
Also: Someone is selling an 85 Iroc out here for $750. Just saw it in the Wheeler Dealer: "85 Iroc Z28 project car,TPI engine, needs work, $750 Ludlow, Ma. 413-364-3196"

Al, you're a Western Masser? Finally, someone close by!

Have you seen that real nice blue Camaro convertible in Chicopee, with the white stripes? It's always parked either at a house on the same road that Anthony's is on, or at the pool/spa shop over on Memorial.

Yeah, we've got a few nice 'Birds and Camaros prowling around. Mine's a Bright Red '86 hardtop 'Bird. There's also a Turbo T/A not far from me. It's amazing that any survived my high school days on the Drive (early 90's). Oh wait, mine's not originally a Chicopee car...LOL!

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

I'm slowly catching up with a few of the Third Gen owners around here and letting them know about NECF. So far I've talked to at least three interested people, but they havn't posted anything yet, and if they don't...it's their loss!
Hey, nice trio of cars...all yours?
P.S. what happened to that Grand Lemans? My uncles got a nasty '79 with a 455.

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

Thanks for the car compliment. The black '77 GP I sold...the guy who bought it is now selling it himself.

The white Lemans was parted out...found lots of nasty rust.

Current stable includes the '92 Formula, '95 Formula, and the '69 GTO. Too few, but on a teacher's salary, it's the best I can do.

I used to cruise the Drive in my younger days. Not worth it now...too much risk of an expensive ticket.

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

Most of the "The Drive" is more like a parking lot now. The rest of it is questionable at best, due to all the Dumb *$$'$ puttering around with no insurance or licenses. I try to avoid it even in my DD '03 Blazer...LOL. It's a lot like Riverdale Road in West Side now. Sucks, it was fun just to cruise it. My old '72 Chevelle and I had many a stop light race there, no tickets though, a little dumb luck & some common sense...LOL. She's since gone on to the save a couple other Chevelles and the rest of her went to Gillette...LOL.
I'm partial to the '68 -'72 Grand Prix's. Too bad about the Grand Lemans, seems there's very few left. Did you ever notice that it's interior door panels resemble the '70 -'72 Chevelle door panels and the '78 -'80 Malibu's resemble the '70 -'72 Lemans/Tempest's? Designer's "Oops" I guess. I put some in a '79 Malibu I built, only to remove 'em along with everything of value on the car 4 month's later. The damn Mass Registry lost my title and claimed that I had never submitted it to them. To add insult to injury, I received the title about 3 weeks after I had scrapped the shell. A few months later, I bought my 'Bird.

Don't know if I posted about my problem abotu my car going lean at part throttle. Well i just wanted to say that I think I fixed it. Changed the power valve from the 45 that I had changed back to the 65. Problem is gone as far as I can see. So I am happy.

Yeah, but I don't like it too much over there. Too much ball-busting. Plus, it seems that most of the regular posters actually know each other, whereas I have no connections to anyone on there.

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

i have no idea what to look for cant figure it out. The car runs fine when i first start it and drive.. i can hit the gas and floor it and everything runs fine. then after about ten minutes sometimes not even the car wants to bog out when i hit the gas. If i just let it cruise right along and bairly press the gas its fine but once i press the gas to get up and go.. or even to just go a bit faster it wants to die or something. But if i pull over shut the car off and utrn it on it runs great again for the 10 mintues. i tried upping the fuel pressure to 46 and that did nothing :\ any other sugguestions?
i did take a data log with datamaster 8D v351 but i dont really know what im looking for

Re: NECF Club Members / bystanders Inside

well i think my mother board bit the dust. Yay!. I order some replacement stuff, so hopefully sometime next week the main PC will be up and running again. Until then I can't do anything with pictures or graphics etc. on my laptop for the website. But if someone can design something and send it to me I can up load it.

If anyone has pictures from the first 2 informal get togethers and wants to see them on the site let me know. I think it would be nice to have a group shot or 2 on the main page, at least for starters.

I'm also looking into a submission form for online member signup from the website. ( not the same as the message board member signup )

Toehead, to further clarify... I had to switch to Linux OS on the serve to get the phpBB running, and that added 10 FTP access accounts. ( 11 total with mine ) So I can set up permissions etc for someone else to help with the site.

That's what I figured. I did meet Keith (White91Formula) a couple times, and he seemed like a good guy. Met Steve (Badass383ciZ28) once, he also seemed a good dude.
