NYC?

Hey are there any other thirdgen people from NYC around here??? I'm getting my GTA back out on the road in a few weeks after a couple of years of sitting, but it seems around my area here in Brooklyn there are almost NO thirdgens left, and the ones I see are the base models that are all busted up. Feels like I'm the last one left here.

I'm in the Flatbush Midwood area. You're in Brooklyn too? Where at?

Here's a pretty old pic... From 2004. Car looks pretty much the same, just haven't driven it in a long time.

Re: NYC?

Also, what's a good shop around here that I can go to to get this thing inspected? I don't need a hook-up, the car will pass safety and emissions, it's just that the last place I went to jacked up the car in the wrong place and bent out my front fenders which cost me $400 to fix, so I'd like to at least go to a place where they know how to jack up the car without damaging it. Thanks.

Re: NYC?

safety check? I dunno. I thought they check brakes and other things during the safety inspection? They'd need to jack up the car at that point, no?

Re: NYC?

Where do you go for inspections? I may need to go there Charged350. So how about it guys? Can anybody recommend a good shop? I'm just a few weeks away from getting plates on her and taking her out before it snows. Then I can't drive her for awhile again.

Re: NYC?

well since you live close to sam, ask him...im pretty sure he knows a spot or two and if it does pass like you say, you can take it anywhere, but tell them to use the subframe to jack up the car, not the pinch welds.

Sam why? You are an @$$.

He asked for a legit shop to do a legit inspection. He is not looking for some BS shop that will rip him off or give him an illegal inspection sticker.

My post is fine for public viewing. If I was using the shops you go to that should not even be allowed to operate then yes keep to PMs.

Speaking of backyard mechanics that should not operate.. when you going to fix my **** already?

Re: NYC?

Awesome, thanks guys. My car's 90% complete. I just finished fixing the E-brake problem that's plagued the car as long as I've had it. Just a few more details to work out like tires and it should be ready for its first shakedown by this coming weekend, getting insurance and plates tomorrow.

Thanks for the recommendation for inspections. It will be nice going to a place where they know what they're doing. Being caught with an illegal inspection or going to a shop that does things illegally is the last thing I need right now. I'm trying to get an officer's commission in the military, so I'm just going to keep my nose clean for the next few months. Even if it means doing the speed limit on my GTA... haha

BTW, thanks also for the shop you recommended for header install. I'll probably be heading out over there this December if the snow hasn't fallen yet.
