Re: winter in the camaro

I did it for 4 years LOL! All I can say is that you better have good tires and a set of brass you know whats. Eventually I got tired of getting stuck at home and invested in a 4x4. Now my camaro hibernates for the winter and I beat the hell out of my pickup.

Re: winter in the camaro

I have a set of bridgestone winterforce tires, they are quite beastly. and honestly I don't see me getting stuck unless someone else puts me there. In my opinion the 5 speed and non-posi handle quite nicely. only real challenge I have is getting out of my driveway.

Ya I did it in a 79 T/A with a 403ci 4bbl in high school and then a 85 Z28 with a 305ci 4bbl, both of which had posi.

Now days I drive the plow truck so my drive and street are ALWAYS clear and I never get stuck LOL!

Re: winter in the camaro

I drove my 88 to Kentucky last year in the middle of a snow storm to get some heads for it. There was an inch and a half of snow on the highway the entire 150 miles and I had a problem one time when going up a hill. My wheels spun a bit and we went a little sideways but i was easily able to correct and go on my way. Funny how I never had any problems once I got to the road, getting it out of the driveway in the first place was always my problem

same argument here, getting out of my driveway is really the only problem. Everyone I talked to said these cars are the worst in the snow, and yes they are if you don't know how to drive a RWD car in the first place, but now I have gotten to having fun around corners and catching up to pickups all the time. I even passed one who was for some lame reason doing a whole 15 mph. almost all the time I can do 45 without sliding at all. the rest of the winter will tell me how much I like it, I may be investing in a second third gen, then get this one recoated and call it my daily driver for all year weather

Re: winter in the camaro

A friend of mine drove all 3 of his in the winters here in PA. 89 V6 T5 non-posi, 85 305 700r4 posi, and 82 with a swapped 350 and 4spd non-posi. He put studded tires on the back and good winter tires up front and only ever had problems on his driveway, but it was a 1/4 long dirt road with a steep hill at the end.
