Please help. New fuel pump but still problems

Short story: bought 89 GTA with supposedly bad fuel pump. Someone had started on replacing by cutting hole in floor and then stopped. I got it and have replaced the fuel tank, sending unit, and fuel pump with a 255 racetronix pump and hot wire kit. Everything is installed but no fuel pressure. I have replace the fuel pump relay too because it was tie strapped together and barely together.

Today

When I unplug the connector from the sending unit and try to run power straight to it with a power probe 3. You here the pump run for a split second and then it trips the power probe. Any thought? Getting frustrated.

Did you cut the hole for the primer in the rubber grommet that goes on the base of the pump? I had a similar issue my pump would prime for the 5 sec I set in the pcm but had no pressure. Like many my pump didn’t have instructions and I installed it like any other pump, but after searching and contacting racetronix I found out about the primer hole in the bottom. I had to pull the pump and cut the grommet. I don’t know why racetronix doesn’t sell it with it already cut.

I didn’t use the thick rubber base because it didn’t look like the sock filter would fit up in the bottom if I did. I don’t know why Racetronix doesn’t provide detailed instructions but even so, I’ve called them several times and emailed and have not received any feedback. That’s what’s so frustrating. If I would have just used the a AC Delco replacement, I think I would’ve been back on the road a long time ago. Even the dealer who sold me the Racetronix pump and hot wire kit said “...make sure you check the wires because sometime it’s wired wrong...”. Should have took the hint. Looks like I’m going to have to go back in the tank. Thanks
