Technicians please

Hi I’m from the Bronx,NY. I really need someone to help me. Maybe come over to my place and get my 1986 iroc running again. It was working ok before. But I over reved the motor and since then it won’t start. Sometime in August. I believe it’s the oil pump or some vacuum line. That melted. I’m willing to pay something. I don’t have much. Any info will really help. I don’t want to be swindled by these local shops that have not seen an iroc in 20 years.

Re: Technicians please

I missed a shift one time YEARS ago & 'over-revved' a Thirdgen once; it barely ran & I thought I blew the motor,........ turns out that the distributor rotor just got screwed-up and replacing teh Cap/Rotor got the car back on the street. Don't know if that's your problem or not, but pulling the cap to check - or replace - the rotor is pretty simple.

Good Luck !

Re: Technicians please

More information is needed regarding your engine; carbed, fuel injected, etc. When you try to start the engine, is she at least cranking and turning over while not catching/starting, or is it not turning over at all anymore? Not sure how you can over rev these engines because they cannot breath as it is, but if you are certain that is the case, and if the engine is still at least turning over but not starting, you need to check for both spark and fuel.

If you're getting spark and fuel, then check to see if maybe the distributor moved on you when you over revved. If everything checks out with spark, fuel and the distributor did not move, then look to see if your pushrods made their way from under rocker arms when you over revved, causing the valves to remain closed, which means pulling the valve covers....

hi Rob Thanks foe getting back to me. Yes I have a 305 carbed automatic. When it did start it would take a while of cranking. Now it struggles to even turn over once. I feel like the oil pump went or the vacuum line I melted is the reason why it won’t start.
