Man, I used to know where to look for this info. However, I'm old now, so the only answer I have is to check with your local dealer; they may not do those decals every day, but they're going to know where to find the info.

While I'm thinking about it, I'd trust the dealer's body shop on this more than anybody else's shop (but I'm just **** that way - call me a stock ****.)

yes, me also. i work at a dealership, and the body shop told me the spec's were on the back of the sticker. well, i bought a cheaper set off the internet, and no directions. i was hoping somebody with an 85-87 iroc could run to there car with a tape measure, and measure from the top of the door ground effect to the bottom of the iroc, and from the front lip of the door back to the I in iroc. that would give me a real close idea of where the iroc sticker goes. thanks for your help, tom

Tell you what, Tom - I'll try to stop by my dealer tomorrow and see if they know anything. I know nearly everybody in parts and collision on a first-name basis, so I'll see what I can come up with if you can hang on for a day or two.

edit: I agree that somebody (actually, many somebodies) has an IROC with the original door decals. Maybe taking 5 minutes to go outside and get some measurements is asking too much, which calls for the flag.

I just noticed that your IROC is black - SWEET. This is just my , but there is nothing sweeter than the '85-'87 IROC-Z28 in black with gray trim. I'd trade my '89 for one straight-up!

Mine is a Bright Blue Metallic (hence the '98U' in my name ) '89. Unfortunately for me, some asshat painted over it with what appears to be an enamel-based '88 Camaro baby blue. They didn't even mask anything off or remove the existing paint! I'm suspecting that it was accident-related because the hood and at least one of the fenders has been repaired, although it must have been extremely minor because my dealer's body shop said that all of the factory tack welds under the hood were intact and there's no frame rail damage. That's refreshing news

It is currently 1/2 disassembled in the garage as I gather parts for a full restoration - everything that I can remove is being removed and refurbed/replaced.

You can see a few pics here: http://www.webster.edu/ftleonardwood/images/IROC/

The URL is case-sensitive.

is the steering wheel original? i didn't think the air bag came in until 1990. if i could have any iroc, i loved the 1989 black iroc with the black/blue stripes. i use to go buy the chevy dealership everyday in 1989 when i was in the army, saw the car but couldn't afford it.

It's not original - I got really tired of the steering wheel cover on the original, so I broke down and spent the $50 on eBay for an airbag wheel from a '91 An original wheel is in the works, but it'll be a little bit before I can put together $400 for one

Army dog, huh? Kick-***...I was in from '91-'94 at Fort Hood. Once I finished AIT in April of '92, I came home on leave and picked up a brand-new black '92 RS. That poor car had 54,xxx miles on it between '92 and '94 because I made a 1500 mile round-trip between TX and MO at least once a month (I didn't like Texas. Heh.)

I shouldn't have let my mom talk me out of a Z28 with t-tops, but maybe it wasn't such a bad idea - I was 19 at the time and full coverage on the RS was $275 per month...$70 more than my car payment

Tom,

Check this thread out; Willie's post should clear things up for you...https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...ecal+placement

For everyone else, thanks for the overwhelming response! We wouldn't have gotten this far without all of you tripping over yourselves to help! No, really - we don't need any more replies. We've found the answer.

edit: This thread's over a week old and there have been only two respondents...words fail me. Gotta love that sense of community, huh?

Well, since I haven't been in this board for awhile and have been very busy, an answer from me didn't happen. I don't think the attitude is warranted though. I just saw this post and needed to reply. Many people would be more than willing to help out, but when an attitude is sensed, people walk away.

Also, as was found by doing a search, the answer you were looking for was posted before. No BS flag needed.

i did a couple of search's but i didn't use the word "placement". i used works like "decal", "sticker", etc. i didn't think it would have hurt for somebody to grab a tape measure, and check it out. that would have required 3 min's tops. we do have some great guys here, just look at 89_iroc_98u for example. thanks, tom

Yeah, you're right; the post was only up for 5 days before I threw down some attitude - I should've waited another week.

Maybe mckenzie tried searching, but couldn't find what he was looking for due to choice of search criteria or a variety of other reasons; it happens to everybody from time to time but that's a reason to simply ignore the thread, so my flag stands.

The "attitude" wasn't directed at anyone in particular - it was directed at those who viewed the thread and knew how or where to find the answer, but chose to pass. They know who they are.
