Re: Jersey? Where are u fellas!!

2.8----replaced starter, fuel pump, timing chain and distributor. crank it and it doesnt start although u hear a pff and the engine shakes alittle like something is igniting inside. im getting spark and i know the pump works. but this guy told me that that pff is a seventh fuel injector and i might not be getting power or ground to my other injectors.. the engine doesnt have much response from one side of the distributor turned to the other side.... im pulliong my hair out

Re: Jersey? Where are u fellas!!

My first guess would be the distributor is not set up right. Which would throw the timing off. Did you try turning the dist. when cranking the motor? Of course you need someone to help you.

Did you ever remove your distributor?

Re: Jersey? Where are u fellas!!

But did ya pull the dist out of the engine at any time?
could be the timing chain stretched out, handfull of things.
I would pull the dist out, set to #1 to TDC, and then drop the dist. so that its firing on #1. From there, you can get a better idea of where you are.

Re: Jersey? Where are u fellas!!

well then I assume you pulled the dist out of the engine?
I would go ahead and make 100% sure you have #1 at TDC, drop the dist in correctly, and then start again.

Stillwater, Sussex County.
Leaving the F-body scene for a while though. My brother is taking my IROC and running a mildly built 350 vortec (cammed and roller rockers). He'll be getting it painted too! My dad is going to be rebuilding & running my big block in his Nova.
I'm probably going to buy a notch Fox body after the winter. I'm pretty set on it due to the difference in weight... built FORD tough using BUICK stuff is the game plan.

Re: Jersey? Where are u fellas!!

I'd bring my 3rd gen but waiting on a duel pump brake lines and fuel lines. Mechanic is waiting on the fuel pump. I'll still be showing up with the Monte till the camaro is straiten out and get it to the DMV for inspection the sticker still says 4/1999. Since the car has been sitting 13 yra before I bought it I'm sure it will need more things I know shocks are coming at some point
