Washington state BIll needs to be killed

Ok guys this is a big one Bill 1397 THe area I quoted from is basically saying we are going to be changing our emissions to be like Cali & if they change their rules we change ours as well. Can we say Washington state is becoming like sheep?
The department of ecology shall adopt rules to implement the emission standards of the state of California for passenger cars, light duty trucks, and medium duty passenger vehicles, and shall amend the rules from time to time, to conform to the requirements of the federal clean air act.
Also this means that if this gets passed anyone that has done any mods to their car that doesnt have the OE number on their cowl (*** I hope I am saying this right) Their car is no longer legal to drive on the roads. Can I say good by to over 5k worth of work done on my car?????? And I know many of you have even more done!!!!!!

Call this number 1.800.562.6000. tell them who you are, where you live at (county or city) & that you are against this bill, then you hand the phone over to the next person in your household (or office or where ever you are) & have them do the same thing. Any person who is old enough to vote can weigh in on this.
For ever 1 person that calls its like 100 votes.

Let's face it, this time we have to speak up or they will take away our rights and our hobby.

The whole emissions program is a major money maker for the state of california. The policy's do not make a lot of sense, but then they don't have to. Most of the citizenry doesn't understand anything beyond the fact that they have to have their vehicles smogged every two years.

The government has gotten themselves into a position where they get to make money off our modifications. If an aftermarket part is not certified (i.e. the aftermarket company has not PAID to have the product certified) then it's illegal, whether or not it hurts or helps emissions. They've done the same thing with hand guns.

Most of us are for clean air. I wouldn't mind reasonable emissions testing. In my view, that means publishing a set of standards. If a given vintage meets the required standards, what's the difference? Who should care how you got there? That should be the spirit of the policy. However, our politians are continually finding ways to tap our wallets and control our lives. But alas, sheeple are chronically asleep at the wheel.

Good Luck to all of you in the Pacific Northwest. Better yet, get off your a$$e$ and make your own luck... speak out. Nobody else is going to do it if you don't.

Thanks for the support. I am really hoping that some of the reaction California is starting to get from this insanity will force your state to look into a more intelligent solution to the air quality problems.

I am perfectly willing to have a reasonable sniffer test. Any car that can pass that test should be acceptable. No matter modifications have been done to it. No visual inspections unless the car does not pass. Seems reasonable to me.

I have already emailed both of my representatives and my senator and called the legislative hotline to voice my concerns and opposition. (I bet that number is ringing a lot this morning).
We had a major discussion about this at our club meeting on Saturday and the whole club is torqued.
After talking with a coworker who is into lowriders, he started contacting all of their clubs and friends as well. This is one of those times that everyone who is into any aspect of autos should be working together.

one thing i gotta say is, most of the mods on your cars arent even state legal so legally you werent supposed to have them installed anyways, so dont let that be a main rebuttle.
i agree though, testing should be done at the tailpipe only and as long as passes the sniffer, who cares what you got.

I agree with others on the issue of who cares what you have under the hood as long as what comes out is clean and meets the smog standards.

Washington, don't let the government take control of your lives, you will never get it back, it will only get more and more regulated, trust us CA people we know. Fight back now and never give up. The government is for the people and by the people. There are ways to keep the air clean without regulating what's on our cars, tell the politicians NO.
