technically it IS a 355, as it has a 4.030" bore now, instead of 4.000". Calling it a 355 lets people know the motor has been rebuilt, and probably is packing heat. Plus it sounds cool

Personally I'd say either 355 or a .30 over 350, but never just "350" because it isn't anymore.

maybe thats why I always said "350" I never really thought it was "packing heat" it was fast enough to beat stangs and some LT1's and I wouldn't get killed by LS1 f-bodys and that was with my stock LB9 chip and 19lbs injectors

Eric, glad to hear the heads are ready to bolt on, get her done. Tickets to the raceway, I am so jealous, I have never been but want to go so bad, have fun and let us know how it is.

As far as this 350 or 355 crap, screw the 355, I want my car to be a sleeper when it's all built. If it's that fast you don't need to impress people with the "355", smoke them first and then tell them what it really is.

In the 80's when I was heavy into street racing we never "popped" the hood. That would give everything away unless it looked completely stock.
We would just ask if it was a mouse or a rat and any boost. That was enough since traction was most of our problems anyway and you can see what skins people were running and that "used" to give you a clue as to what kind of time the dude could pull.

With small blocks into the 454 cubes and monster hidden N2O.....
and 8-9 sec's on et streets things are getting crazy.

That's crazy Dwayne, I like the old days and wish I could relive them, especially the 80's, my favorite years. Too bad I was to young to remember them, lol. Maybe that's why we like our thirdgens so much, takes us back in time.

I can't wait to see your combo go off w/o a hitch Eric!!!
I am still having the same issues with my Iroc. I am awaiting your project to be back together before I start pesturing you again for help

I want to swap my puter out, but don't want to buy one unless it is 100 percent the problem. Do you still have a spare 350 puter?

or can you come over with one to test my sh@#$%^t.

I think you should run low low 13's, unless you can hook up traction. I still think our cars are very close if mine was running right.

Please hurry up! My d*%k is hard up to go up in that 383 stroker. I've been beating up on strokers lately and it feels good. My G-Force T5 will hold the power now with out breaking but I did break the stock shift forks. I had to replace them with the G-Force brass shift forks. The Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch is holding the power so no worries there. So therefor I'm ready for you

Sorry Eric, I will be busy after 5pm or so, maybe another day. In the morning me and Travis are bringing the Merc. to Bennie to get it checked out. Wish us luck, we need to make it there and back in one piece, lol, plus I hope it's not that big of a problem.

have fun guys, im going to hit up sears point tonight. I've done some weight reduction, put in new rear shocks (a LOT stiffer) and I'm opening my exhaust up completely in hopes of that 13.9x@100.xx run. Wish me luck!

With my trap speed and 60 ft, I'd think I could hit 13.7s on some good, broken in DRs. with a 1.9x 60.

What would give you that idea???

We just had a 4-person TGO Senior Member party at my place that woke the neighbors up haha

Good luck on your runs at "The Point", even if it is called Infineon now it will always be "The Point" to us.

I've got that 15" set of DR's, just need to get them mounted after I explode the BigO 6-year old tires on them now.

Okay mr 14.2 @106. Right now your car couldn't even do a 14.2, seeing as how you blew it up

No i decided not to go, didn't want to spend the money this week. I did take alot of weight out of the car yesterday, has to be at least 40 pounds worth. Going back for more today! And to install new poly bushings/endlinks on the rear swaybar to stop that damn squeaking back there.

Also a friend of mine down in hayward has a CAI he's probably going to just give me, I'll have to give him a call today. Hopefully get 7 or 8 more hp with that.

Edit: My buddy in hayward is also giving me full assembled LT1 heads that I'm gonna port and throw on. Vroom vroom baby!

Will - So what was up with that Merc?
Was Bennie able to diagnose?

Eric - How far along are you with yours now?

I might have to bring mine in to Bennie soon as it is making a slight ticking noise around the intake/manifold area and I can't quite put my finger on where or what it might be.

as far as the mercury goes it was a mass air flow sensor

and my car i ended up pulling the engine to make putting it backtogether easier and doing the motormounts easier

it was harder than i thought if my hands were any bigger i couldnt have done it it took about an hour for removal still have to do the other side

i sent my heads to get cleaned up and check to see if they needed surfacing and they did they were ".002 warped and your allowed technically .004 but i like things perfect so on monday everything is at the shop waiting to go backtogether i should be getting her done especially with bennie down my back

and as far as your ticking sound goes bring her on in im goin for my $300 bonus

A bonus for what and what's that have to do with my car?

Yeh I talked to Bennie earlier.
I'm going to swing by tomorrow morning.
Hopefully it's something dumb like an exhaust leak around the header/manifold.

{edit} Kyle just swung by my place.
He's lookin' for some 245 tires for his rear as he's riding on a spare, possibly rims too.
If anybody has a hookup holla at him eh.

. ..no biggie on my ride. ..just several of the header bolts started loosening up causing some exhaust leaks.

i'm sure that added to the lousy #'s at dynoday as i first started noticing the sound on the way down there.

ah well, new #'s and track visits to come. ..

hopefully eric and vin will get there soon as well.

loose header bolts, that's good news Del. Could have been something a lot worse. Damn, I am so jealous you guys are going to be running your cars soon. I want to run mine so bad, just need to get this damn leaky gas tank fixed. I need some money, should have the cash in a few weeks or so, then it's off to Bennie to get everything done and then finally on to the track.

after research no cause the heads still have holes drilled which act as a guide

and yea i meant non roller

pre 86, oh well i have it for my ta's motor anyway

plus self aligning isnt as stable as guide plates
