New gas tank, pump, etc. is finally in!

Damn, it's about time, I know. It took us about 2.5 hours from start to finish, we did it this past friday. All in all it was a easy job and nothing really came up unexpected or went wrong. Well, I shouldn't say nothing, lol. My brother didn't want to cut my exhaust since it's fully welded, so he just unbolted it from the rear and let it hang. Well as he was pulling the gas tank out he was pulling the exhaust out of the way torwards the passenger side of the car. Little did he know he was bending my pipe shut right after the cat, lol. It sucks, car runs hot and makes noise since it's such a small opening for the exhaust, and man does it bog down the power, especially at higher rpm's. But it's all good, I am having a shop weld in a new section tommorow, just kind of sucks because it's hard to say how much power I gained from the pump swap etc, but by tommorow I should know more. Either way it was worth it, the car starts better, idle is so much smoother, even at cold starts, and damn has mpg improved. I used to get about 20 or so, I got 24 on this last tank with the new stuff installed. Anyway, check out the pics below.

Nice new gas cap, and notice the new fuel pocket, looks very sharp I think, I also have a new gas door but am going to wait and put it on when I have the car painted.

You should jump on that Big Willie Style, that with a full 3" intermediate pipe will really help out!

Liking the pics!

New tank and pump was one of the first things I had to replace when I got my car.

Was it smelling like gas all the time when it was parked?

Ha ha, ya it was smelling like gas when it was parked and driving down the road, had a major leak coming from the filler neck as you can see from the pics. All good now, no more blowing up and passing out, lol.

Del, cfi down the track, ya this summer it should be ready to make it's first run. I still want to put in my tranny shift kit, and fix the new leak it has as well before I run it down the track. Thanks to Terrell I will have his y pipe, so I would like to put that on as well before I run it at the track. I got the kink in the pipe fixed today. They put in 3" pipe from the cat back to the axle, the over the axle pipe that goes into the inlet of the muffler is new as well but is only 2.5" because my muffler inlet is only 2.5". It's sounds better, and feels more open when you punch the gas, especially at higher rpms. Sometime by this summer I hope to have some headers as they will make the biggest improvment.

Mechanical defects, no, not the end of them yet. My tranny has a very minor leak, I think from the pan, which is fine since I need to drop it anyway to put my kit in, it's also due for a service. I would also like to have the rear end serviced, and then it's really all good to go down the track.

Hey Will I've got an extra quart of Redline synthetic rear diff. fluid leftover from when I changed mine last summer.
Has limited-slip additive already, but you might want to add GM posi additive too some say.
I think it was just under 2 quarts total for my 9-bolt
Yours if you want it. Worth $10.

Del, I'll take it, save it for me and I will come and get it from you some time. Give me some time though as we are in the process of buying a house. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it.

Yep no big, I'll hold onto it till we meet up again.
I don't know how often you're supposed to change the rear, but I'm guessing I'm okay for a year or so.

I plan to go to the track on the 11th or maybe a Wed. soon after.
I'm sure one of y'all will make it over.

TV cable is adjusted a bit and wow, whatta diff.
Shifts even better than before, not to mention accurately because of the tach.
I want one more crack at a high 13 before changing the valvetrain this spring.

I need posi......and about 45 more cubes to be competitive but oh wells. I don't mind running with the stock hondas, at least my car sounds nicer.

It's all good Robby, the old CFI and I are in the same class as you, lol. Wish I could be there this week and finally run, car is still not ready. This summer or spring for sure. Make sure and post some times guys, good luck to all.
