As much as I don't like police and getting tickets, they are here for a reason and do a job that most people would not do.
Who's fault is it that you're on probation anyways?

That is the most bullshit statement I have ever heard. They are here to make money and they are the governments bitch. Poor people can't pay so they make special programs for them and rich people buy into the "foundation" so they basically pay for all the bullshit right up front.

#1, spell check, #2, Like Vin said, they're doing a job. What did you get pulled over for? I think the only people who have a problem with law inforcement is people who keep breaking the law. Lets see how you guys feel about them when a family member gets murdered or somebody steals your car.

And these guys go out and get shot at, stabbed, spit on, pissed on, and have the crap beat out of them EVERY DAY. They get dressed every morning to go out and do that. So sometimes they don't wanna put up with your ****.

Everyone like to speed and light'em up now and again. You just accept your "spanks" and learn from your mistakes. There's a time and place for everything.

I'm puttin my 2 cents in here. If you want cops that are unfair you gotta come here. The new Highway patrol's around here are complete and utter ******. They look for a reason to pull you over.. play stupid with you and hope they find drugs or something in your car. They've been hounding me and I'll admit I have my share of fun with our cars, but its when i'm not doing a dang thing that they decide Well.. lets pull this punk over... NOW THATS WHATS BS... I agree if you break the law you get what you deserve.. but c'mon now when I aint breakin the law dont pull me over

I've had to pay for speeding tickets and the loss of money helped make me drive a little more cautious. What else could they do for speeding or other wreckless driving that would make it any different?
Does it make you feel cool to say , F*** cops, I'll do what I want? There are laws for a reason and if you follow them then chances are better that you won't be harrassed.
I admit that getting pulled over when you didn't even do anything sucks but that's life, deal with it. Yes it's an inconvenience but if you look suspicious then... I was pulled over once because I was 18 and was driving my 79 t/a. I had no registration and got a ticket but I'm not hanging onto that.

Definitely 87tpi.. I dont crap on em, I dont spit on em, I "TRY" to respect them, but you know sometimes the cop is wrong and you're right. But your right that's life and I deal with it. My main deal is I'm not going to **** them off because like it was said earlier in the thread, I might need them when my car gets stolen or hit and run. My bro's firebird had that happen and knowing and being nice to the City cops helped out tons.. Our city officers are pretty good except the highway patrols new around here are REALLY STIFF. You spit into the wind the wrong direction and they'll give you a ticket. On the lighter side a friend of mine's got a GEO Metro. GOt a five speed manual and his belt kinda squeaks occasionally... The hipo pulled him over tried to give him a ticket for exhibition. Humans make mistakes but dang lol. Its a GEO!!!

Officers that I know personally took the job to try and make a difference in their community, not for money.
They have to deal with the scum of society daily and keep coming back.
As much as you and outkast might be jaded about this topic, don't call what I have said bullshit. It is called maturity.

Yeaah the NHP and CHP, (pulled me over in the 79) up here are asses too but all the city cops are cool. The CHP that pulled me over kept asking if the car was mine and if I was sure
. I think that after being a cop for awhile you just get sick of people not following the law and they start noticing every little thing.

Well, growing up with a Father that was an officer for 26 years...., Cops are people just like you and I. Yeah they get spit on, cussed at, disrespected, etc. on a continual basis, 95 % of them will give you the same respect that is given to them.... Act like a young jack a$$ punk and you will be treated as such. Many years ago I was stopped in my Camaro for 136 mph in a 35 zone....No ticket. Yes, a ton of luck, but another reason, I gave the officers nothing but 100 % respect. That single stop made me change the way I drive. They did not need to take my car, take me to jail, or fine me, the verbal lecture was more than enough to set me straight. I will say though, it took a few years for the officers to not watch me anytime I was seen around town, but I deserved every bit of that, it took alot to gain back thier respect. Cops are not ****** unless you provoke them. Like said above, they don't stop people for "no reason at all" , you did something wrong or have something wrong with the car. An officer must have some reason for the stop. If you are a known punk, that is reason to keep an eye on you, as soon as you step out of line.....well.... Think of how many people drive around without being "harrassed" .. Think about it.

if they want to notice something, i wish it would be all the d!ckheads talking on cell phones going slow in the fast lane.
i have mixed feelings on the police. the bottom line is there are good and bad. but there's no arguing that writing tickets is abused by government as a source of revenue. that's what pisses me off.

Burnout! Shortly after I had gotten busted big time , the cops were finding any reason to pull me over, one incident they sped up, pulled over at the bottom of the hill on the highway and hoped I would speed up because the decline and he could pull me over. but mostly though they are cool when i am around them. one of the cops up here drives a thirdgen and pulls people over. its sweet ive talked with him before we had a good chat, he loved my engine bay and he knew it was not legal but he didnt care.

. Its just the fact that when someone does something twice to you, you call it harassment, when in fact you screwed up TWICE! I'm not going to preach because i felt like I was getting harassed for having loud exhaust. Havent seen hide nor hair of a flashing blue and red light ever since i thought this to myself. "if they want to notice something, i wish it would be all the d!ckheads talking on cell phones going slow in the fast lane."
Vexter, If you like this idea, move to Minnesota, I'm in SD and if a cop even sees you with anything remotely looking like a cellphone in your hand, you get pulled over and a ticket. I'm sure it'll become law other places as well. Pull over and use the damn thing like it was meant to.

Hey Traviz, why is your engine bay illegal?

there are some good cops out there generally speaking the older cops 40+
lets face it the government is looking to make money on you for as much as they can traffic tickets are a billion dollar industry. think about it most people will just pay the fine and not even take the time to fight the ticket cause it is not worth a days pay ect. so most people who plead guilty are not guilty just dont want to take the time to fight the system for a 200 or 300 fine. i mean thinka bout it if you are in court and you are going to plead guilty they let you out right away your in and out. but if you decide to plead not guilty they put you in the back of the line taking atleast another hr to hr and 1/2 of your time to plead not guilty.
but lets say you really dont want to go to court, so you mail in your plea of not guilty and have to put up the FULL BAIL AMMOUNT of the fine in order for a trial by mail. than if you are not guilty they mail you your money back within 6 weeks after the decision by the judge.
the cops thinking is that they will pull you over for anything they can, treat everyone like a criminal probe and prod and ask questions which arent related to a traffic stop. maybe one out of every 1,000 stops youll get a criminal who was supscious in the first place.

Im not the biggest fan of cops because Ive been followed a countless number of times and pulled over about 30 times but I only have 4 tickets(3 speeding, 1 no front plate). every time I get pulled over there are atleast 2 cars. when I got pulled for no front plate there was 3 cars(5 cops) and the bird in the sky, tell me thats not some
I've called the cops for things in the past turned out it was a big waste of time.
I do understand that some are just doing their job, and others give them a bad name.

AND I IN NO WAY THINK THIS IS RIGHT OR JUSTIFIED, but thats the way the law is sometimes.

Exactly, it's the way it is. If you are perfectly legal they can't write you a ticket. If you have a broken plate lamp and they can't see your # why shouldn't they pull you over? If they find other things than that's your fault( not you, in general). I think you guys see it more in the city, I lived a couple blocks from Terrell for about 13 years and have been pulled over there and I got a no license, no ins. ticket, they pulled me over for 1 headlight out. If I had ins. and a license they wouldn't even have given me a ticket. They could have towed my car and they didn't. That's one way they find more stuff to ask about.
In bigger cities they generally do have more than 1 car/officers just incase something goes down for their protection, I'm ok with that.

There are dicks in every profession. Law Enforcement just happens to be a profession. One must own up to what he does (

Even if you don't agree with what I'm saying, at least remember my parting advice: Respect is always due, especially for those carrying Berrettas.

I was over this whole cops thing years ago.
Came across "decent" ones, bastads, and everything in between.
I got lit up so many times for minor issues 5-6 years ago, it became just a big joke to get pulled eventually.
I treat them just like I would anybody else; respectful and slightly sarcastic.
Haven't had the pleasure for at least a couple years now, but that comes with age/driving style and not putting myself out there as much as I used to.
I don't drive under the influence and I always drive within my means.
I'm sure there's a fix-it tick for no front plate, blackouts, loud exhaust or even speeding in my future, but the bottom line is if I ever get pulled again, well it's probably just my time again and there's a 1/2 a chance I was askin' for it.

For all the stuff I've done, only gotten pulled over twice and 1 resulted in a ticket. I was really lucky on the last one, doing 50+ on a 35 mph curvy road with a video camera hanging off the side of the car. CHP was coming down the other way and I slowed waaaaay down. Figured there was no use in running so I pulled over and took my camera off. Just as I got the last mount free, he pulled up. Let me off with a warning

This is one of the most pointless conversations I have ever read about on here... But here's my .2!
I, personally, used to get pulled over quite a bit in my Firebird. One time, I got pulled over and asked if I have anything illegal in the car.
Even if I DID - like I would admit to have a pound of pot in my car, get real.
No ticket, no nothing. Just pulled me over to ask me that.
I've been pulled over a few times where it was warranted, running stop signs, speeding... I got clocked going 125 in a 70 on 99 coming home from a party in Merced like 2 years ago. I got a fatty ticket for that one.
(In my Mustang haha)
Anywho, to quote what everyone else has been saying - there's some good apples, some bad ones. A few wks ago, I left my car parked in a no parking zone, came outside, a cop was writing me a ticket. I complained about not having a good day, as I had already gotten a ticket for running a stop sign. He let me go w/ no ticket, that was cool.
Than there are the d!cks, they're the ones who abuse the privellege of being an office of the law. Now, I say F*** them, but for the most part, I love cops and sheriff's. It's CHP I can't stand.

PLEASE, next time they follow you that closely, slam on your brakes!!! Let's see what their reaction time is, if they rear-end you, they are always at fault in a court of law!
