Need blocks rebuilt
So I have a line on a 350 block to throw into my 91 TA (since we pulled the 305 out and its just sitting in my shed atm). I'm looking to get a stock rebuild on it for as cheap as possible --- not looking for new parts but to make it run nice. Every shop I call and talk to wants a ridiculous amount of $ for a stock rebuild!!! I've gotten from $1299 (non-roller) up to $1700!
What the hell should I do? Who wants to donate me a running 350?

those prices are retarted for a stock shortblock rebuild keep looking, try calling someplaces up here or beg jesasaurus to build it
Those prices are not unreasonable. Most shops presume you want a guarrantee. They are not going to rebuild your engine with worn out used parts, and new parts and labor costs $$$. We have a bunch of shops here in So Cal that do cheap rebuilds. They keep Dyno Don busy fixing their screw ups. Fortunately for the guys who have given in to the temptation to buy one of the cheap rebuilds, the engines won't start after they are installed, so Don gets to go through them before permanent damage is done.

Ok, dont get defensive here. I bought this car for $400... and my goal for the car is to get it up and running reliably for as cheap as possible. I don't have a problem using good, used parts for cheaper. I'm not so concerned about a warranty in all honesty, but haven't thought about it much. I just wanted to spend about $600 - $800 and get a good stock rebuild. Is that too much to ask?
