Took me a week to find it but I wasn't really looking for it per say. It just sorta happened and I let it.
If you tell us what you are looking for and some kind of price range, we'll be happy to help you look. In fact, I know one member with an '89 GTA that might could be talked into letting it go.

ya i ve checked craigslist tons of times, im just a stickler when it comes to the tranny, for me its got to be 5-speed which is kind of hard to come by in these cars it seems, also i am thinking of saving up some more money so that in summer i wont have a money issue when it comes to buying one. but for now if i find "the right one" i'll jump on it.
preferably 5-speed, 87-90, and if i get really lucky an iroc...

Well you will make it kind of hard on yourself if you set all these requirements before you go searching. Trust me, I started out my search the same way. I would broaden it out a little bit, and instead of saying "It doesn't have this, this, this, or this, I dont want it" you should look at its potential. Search for one with a straight body, no rust, and a V8. Decide whether or not you want T Tops. Go from there. I searched for 6 months like this before I found something. In the world of 3rd gens, placing the "must be a manual" restriction will really make the search hard, especially when it comes to finding one that hasn't had the **** beat out of it. You might want to open up to the 91-92 years, those were arguably the best built of all the years.
Trust me on the clean body thing! A clean, straight, good interior automatic RS with a 305 is a MUCH better deal than a 305/350 IROC or Z28 that needs lots of work. You have to learn to look past the bad "image" of a base model and realize that after this many years there is very little difference between a Z28/IROC and a base model V8. At this point in time they are essentially the same car with different engines! I would stay away from any V6 car though! (No offense V6 owners)

I spent a year searching for mine, but I knew exactly what I wanted and was patient.
As posted above, know what you're looking for, but be aware of the availability of your chosen model/options.

Let me be the voice of hope in this situation. If you want a 5-speed, v8 camaro, then search craigslist daily. They are on there as we speak. It took me a week to find my car, and what a find it was. I got a second owner 87 Z28 with t-tops, LB9 and a five speed. It came with two tens in a custom box, q-logic kick panels and component speakers in the rear sails, 3" american thunder catback and an alarm. I paid 1100 for it, clear title and all. I have since sold two parts out of it (t-top bag and kick panels) and actually ended up paying 950 for it. The car only needed a speedometer cable and for the last four months hasn't needed a thing since. The drivetrain is all the same and I cannot stress more that you should wait till you find a well taken care of drivetrain. All of the other little headaches that are inherent with these cars can be enough to deal with and you don't also want to deal with a botched motor swap or a jacked up tranny. Here is a link to a camaro you may want to look into-

I'm not sure if it is a t-top car however. Keep looking they are out there more then you think. Diligence is paramount in a search like this, good luck

I just went to work one day and asked my boss if he wanted to sell his Z28. It had about 12k on it and that was in 1986. I drove it for three years and then parked it.
It has a really cool history as the smog laws changed in March of 83 and my car had a motor change when it had less then 500 miles on it. Prior to March of 83 the car was smoged to the year of the motor. My old boss had put a 70 LT1 in it and I had all of the paperwork to document it back then. So I went to the ref and got a bar sticker in the door jam.
Now I have a BAR sticker that says I don't need smog anymore.
I am pretty sure it is a one of a kind 82Z

I think someone on this forum was going to look at this car earlier in the year but it looks like it is still for sale:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/car/264741046.html
IMO, the reason it is still for sale is that it is way over priced.
Found this too:
http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/car/264170432.html
Blingin' wheels but fits the bill.
I tell you, this is half the fun of looking. You gotta make calls, set up viewings, bring a camera, all that stuff. Then finally, the car that is supposed to be yours will appear.
I wish one of these was calling for me:

1st gen firebirds are ugly as crap!, I love the camaros though.
I was kinda looking for a bird and Phat89t/a was selling his but it wouldn't have an engine and it was brought up a few times but never really acted on it. Then I found out that it would have the engine so one day I was like, ok, I'll buy it. Went down to his house, drove it, bought it, and love it. Wish it had more power but it has a lot of other mods on it.

87tpi,
Last I recall... Isn't dope illegal in NV?
I think that 1st gen birds look great! I mean it is not my style. I have a 1st gen Camaro as well as my 3rd gen Camaro but they are great looking cars and true muscle cars!
I mean it is a Pontiac
but still a muscle car. Last time I checked the water ports on my BBC in my 67 were larger then the intake ports on a 1st gen Pontiac.

Haha, maybe I shouldn't have said that. I might get my butt kicked at the next gtg
.I've tried to like'em but I just can't. I just can't stand the frontend or the rearend. The 1st gen camaros on the other hand are beautiful. I would love to have one. I love pontiacs but those firebirds are not for me, except for maybe the 69 t/a.

87tpi,
Well at least your a good sport. Some people get reall testy when you try and make a joke.
The frontends on the 1st gen birds are really nose heavy. The back of the car is identical except for the tail light design. In fact most of the patch pannels that they sell are the exact same.

[QUOTE=OUTATIME GTA;3197206]I prefer the early 2nd gens, but there are also some great looking 1st gen Firebirds.
That's what I'm talking about!
