T/a is back on the ground!

After 2 months on jackstands in the middle of the garage I finally got it back on the ground and driving. The A arm reinstall was one of the easiest jobs I've done. No spring compressor, no helper. I just bolted up the A arm pivot bolts, installed the spring in the upper perch, jacked up the arm and reconnected the bj, swaybar, and strut, simple! I needed to hurry up and move it over to make room for the Formula to be parked next to it. I have the Formula parked at my moms house in her garage and will be picking it up tomorrow to bring back home. I bought another car on Sunday as another daily driver so I will be selling the 89 for mod money for the Formula as I now have 5 cars!

The difference between the prokit and the sportlines are the sportlines lowered it about another inch, and it still needs to settle some. It almost looks perfect (needs taller tires, these ar 25"). I need to wash it tomorrow so I will get some better pictures.

Here's the daily driver. It's a 97 Subaru 2.5 GT AWD. It's a pretty quick little car.

In these you can see how much lower the t/a is than the Formula. The formula has the prokit on it. I'm going to put sportlines on the formula too so the 18's will look nice in the wheel wells.

Love to see a pair of 'birds in the driveway, but you definitely have too many rides. Time to consolidate.
Brings back memories of when I had my pair.

Aren't you buying back your old one? That's 3 cars for 1 person, I have 5 cars for 2 people Now I have the 99 4runner and 97 Legacy Gt for the daily drivers, my wife has the 87 4runner as her toy for 4wheeling and camping, and I have the t/a as my toy. Now that I have the formula, the t/a is going bye bye. It will be hard though, I drove it again today and with the new springs and poly bushings it is a blast to drive.

Yeah I am buying the old one back, but I will be registering it as a non-op and storing it at my buddy's house for a year or 2, so I won't be tempted to spend any $ on it.

I think you'll be happier overall with the Formula.
What else are you swapping over?
It has a lot of a/m parts that you and Harjeet added.

I'm swapping the wheels, lca's, bilsteins, airfoil, stereo system, and dashpad. I need to buy another set of wheels for the t/a so I can sell it. I want the crosslace as an extra set.

Hey, since you have a Formula and a Trans Am, I was wondering if the Trans Am tail lights fit into the formula? I love the look of Trans Am tail lights.

Harjeet, do you really want it back? I'll sell it back for the same price. I will even meet you in Sac.
Bully, I was thinking of switching them out but it depends on who buys the car.

I want $6,000 obo for it. I have put around $9,000 into it in the last 2 years. It's basically a new truck in an old trucks body. I'm not sure on smog as last time I smogged it was 6 years ago and we have no smog here now. I have built up the motor quite a bit too so I'm really not sure. It runs great and doesn't smoke or put out any bad exhaust stench.
Here is what it has.

22re bored .030, KB pistons, stage II "272" cam, oversized valves, New ported and polished amc head, ARP studs, electric fan, Modine 3 core radiator, Doug Thorley header, 2 1/4 flowmaster, 5 speed, 3" body lift, 33" bfg m/t's. Centerforce dual friction clutch, Marlin Crawler hd-w56, V6 rear 3rd member, 4.88's

Bully, yes they are interchangable.

No kidding. There was no way my car was going to go back together without the spring compressor when I took off the A-Arm.

You reused the stock springs though right? The sportlines are a lot shorter.

True that.

Say, interested in putting some gold GTA's on that car and making a swap? I'd throw in some cash too... It's just a thought. I'm not sure how black would mesh with the tan top. A Traviz photshop would have been handy about now.

So you diggin' the banshee more than ever now you've had a chance to stare at it for a while?

We might be bale to work something out, I don't know what gold would look like against the blue though . I like the banshee look on the formulas but not on the rgular firebirds or the gta's. Maybe it's just that there are no gfx to mix with it, I dunno. I still love the look of the gfx on the t/a's though.
