If we're looking at June I should have the Formula done, if in primer. New engine/trans/rear/suspension/brakes, so yeah, I have work to do...
That being said, I always feel like Bako is part of LA, especially given the recent exodus due to real estate. Of course, Don did make my headers, so more of the car is SoCal.

Do we have a confirmation that our date (what is the date?) is solid at this track or is this still a fantasy?

I highly doubt I will be ready by June 2nd. I get the shortblock back tomorrow and it'll be back in the car as soon as I can pick up a converter. Tuning on the other hand will be the longest part of the process. I am trying hard but it doesn't look goog for the 2nd, I'll keep on it.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...
I've been patiently waiting for six weeks for a phone call back from Blake, the owner of the track. Its tough for me to get away from work to make a phone call back to him, since I'm supposed to be answering the phone. I tried to register on their message board to ask, but it never sent me a password.
I'm emailing the webmaster to see.
We chose June 2nd because it was the last day shown on their schedule for open test'n'tune during the day. Any later and it would be way too hot. Then we'd have to wait until Oct or Nov.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...
The Famoso track calendar lists June 2nd as an open date really: More or less a "Test and Tune" date. Do we really need to have an arrangement with these folks to show up there?
Hell, I'd settle for one of the Bakersfiled folks telling me there was a BBQ to attend and I'd go. That, and some advice on a decent, cheap hotel.
Where we at with this? I want to put it on my calendar. Who can I call to make something happen?

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...
I was able to call the track today, but they were closed yesterday and today because of the "big storm" they had over the weekend. Supposedly they'll be open Wednesday so I hope to hear back then.
I am trying to get ahold of the track so we can have our own lane, and do some kind of bracket racing competition. If we get 16 cars, we can do a ladder match like the NHRA pros do, based on qualifying. We'd be guaranteed more runs than way, instead of having to sit in the regular test'n'tune lane with everyone else.

I'm out. I have run out of funds for the Formula for awhile, the drivers need a few things too. The engine is still on the stand. I need head gaskets, headbolts, cam, rockers, converter, and tuning equip. or just the dyno tune. It might be awhile.

I called the track again today, and left another message. The lady told me he was supposed to be in today. I expressed my displeasure again at waiting for over 8 weeks with no return phone call. She said she would give him the message. What horrible customer service.

Sorry to hear the track officials suck so hard. In the coming years they won't be the only game in town. Maybe then they'll look back on miscues like this one.
I'm out in any case, since this is our last chance to go to MX to visit family before the baby gets here. My passport actually came in so we're packing soon. And believe it or not, my wife (fellow car nut) says that the trip to Mexico trumps a track day.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...
I finally got a call back from Blake! Unfortunately I was on the phone at work with a customer and couldnt answer my cell phone. doh! He left me a message about being concerned about car counts, and he expecting a full house that day. I dont think he'll have to worry, since people are dropping out now.
I didnt get a chance to call him back until lunch time, and he didnt answer his phone. Hopefully he'll call me back sooner than nine weeks later this time.
We SoCal people are definitely still going. I hate to have to go to the 4th gen boards and invite them, but it looks that way if we want more than six cars.

Good news and bad news. Blake called me back today and we will have our own lane on June 2nd. The bad news is we will not be able to do bracket racing. It will be heads-up grudge matches only.
This is the list I have based on reading both threads.

arrghh. This was the only day available huh?
I'm good with heads-up grudges, but unfortunately I made a date that Saturday already since this didn't seem to be going anywhere.
I expect the list to dwindle, but if by some chance the list grows quite a bit with new additions, I might change plans, I'll be keeping an eye.

Sure. Its the best way to handicap start two totally different cars. It relies on driver skill more than who has the most money in their engine.

Well I was hoping to have my engine in for this, but I won't be starting it until June. I am still debating going to this with just a stock 305, but we'll see.

it'll be well-attended from both ends of the state. It should be a regular hoot.

Gag. I just threw up a little in my mouth.
