Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

Is Lon confirmed? I'll go if he goes.

I'm looking up hotels in the Bakersfield area now but am curious. If I get night there on Friday and plan on being there early Saturday with the rest of everyone, how long will we be at it? In other words, should I book two nights with a plan to drive back Sunday or could I make it back to the Bay (4 hours away) on Saturday?

Curious about that.

Also, not sure who else from NorCal would be there either...

I dont know how you guys can say that, as the date was mentioned right away as being June 2nd. The track was open that day for regular test'n'tune no matter what. The issue was whether we'd get our own lane and whether we could do bracket racing. Oh well, sucks that people are backing out now.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

I think it was more of if it was gonna be a "thirdgen meet". The Sac people can test N tune at Sac Raceway, Bay Area has Infinion, no reason for them to drive down to Famoso just to race.

Plus this always happens, people are all gunghoe at first then 1-2 weeks before the meet they start dropping like flys

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

I have to apologize for my slackin' as one of the front runners for this GTG that won't be attending.

Really I wanted this to be a big meet, with plans to stay somewhere and meet up for activities around the area in addition to the big raceway event.
As the guys said, a 4 hour drive just to race is a bit much.

My ride just barely is on the road again and I've already made some solid plans for the 2nd.

It doesn't appear the core group of guys up here are mobile, or attending from what I am gathering either, so once again, I'm sorry that I won't be there and I hope we can organize a greater event in the near future.

- Del

I wish I could make it but this is where my ride is at the moment. I may have the rest of my parts by then but not running, tuned, and broken in for racing.

You're kidding! What part of "NorCal vs SoCal at Famoso" lead you to believe it was just a thirdgen meeting? It is and always has been a drag race.

I wish we could go to Sac or Sears Point, but 8 hours is just a little much to drive. I feel for you guys having to drive 4+ hours, but its not a picnic at 3 hours for us, either. There arent any other tracks between us.

What we should do is get together and team up on the Las Vegas guys at their home track. The scenery isnt bad, either.

Lastly, Blake mentioned the Import guys were looking for more cars for their event in the fall at Famoso. We could get together with them, have the track to ourselves, and do a domestic vs import thing. Think you guys would be ready by Sept?

September is good for me. I know things just come up sometimes, but it gets old to have so many back out at the last minute and just have a couple of people show.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

I was really looking forward to this event and to meet you So-Cal third gens too but a big opportunity came up and I cannot definitely pass this up for any race. Big plans are in my plate until end of june. Hopefully by then plans should settle down. Sept should look good but, then again that depends on the date. If it falls on my wife's b-day then it is a no-no. Even if I can go my trailer is loaded anyways. Yeah, my car would be trailered there. My car can make it there but I've raced in redding before(3 hours away) and my IROC's alternator went out. My wife had to wake up in the middle of the night and bring couple of batteries to make it home. I am glad she just laugh about it . I thought she was gonna drill me that time. We'll meet you guys in the near future. Look at it on the bright side, more time to mod our cars.

For Nor-Cal TGO. Sac will have a grudge night on the day. That I will be going since it will be at night.

I've been on the fence for a while now. I can't make it. I won't bore you all with the details, let's just say that life sucks at the moment. But don't let my situation keep you from being the fastest TBI present. Someone has to represent the 15 second bracket.

Bah!

Well, I'm booked. It will be worth it to look at Kevin and say, "I need 10 car lengths!"

I was looking forward to meeting you Lon but I cannot pass up this opportunity to:
  • See a bunch of Third Gens (what a photo op!)
  • See my friend Joey's LS1 conversion.
  • Meet some of the SoCal folks.
  • Drive my car on the highway for longer than 5 minutes (my average commute)

I'll meet you sooner or later.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

Kevin,

When in September? I would probably be able to get mine done and also be all done with my schooling that I am taking right now for the new job.

I am very much down for some events once I get time to jump back on my car. It was sooooo close before the job change.

I have all these new parts that I fabricated up and most just need to go out and be powder coated and installed. The headers also need to go out and be coated too. But that does not take too long. Of coarse there are still some brake system and fuel system issues to work out but that is all easy stuff.

No idea when in Sept. It was just an idea mentioned by Blake if we wanted to get together with the import guys. I'll try to talk to him Saturday and then get in contact with the head import guy running their show.

Re: Nor-Cal vs. So-Cal at Famoso...

I'm knee-deep in preparing for parenthood and the ride is juuuuuust coming apart for paint so I'm out of this one. This really sucks since I'm 25 minutes from the damn track and have been looking forward to meeting some more Thirdgenners.

Come to think, I might get the Ls1 brakes on this weekend so that I can roll it onto the flatbed for bodywork. Stupid job....among other things :|

I really hope you folks have a ball out there. Paint side up!
