Looking for a built 350 / 355 / 383...

After taking the heads off that 305 block and seeing a good amount of rust, I'm second guessing my decision to stick the 305 back in the 91 stock. Figure it'll cost me the same $ to rebuild a 350... so...

In the interest of time and $, I'd like to get an already assembled 350+. I have heads, cam, rockers, lifters, rods etc. Just need bottom end in good condition, then i'll throw all my performance **** on it.

-OR-

A good roller block for as cheap as possible to get machined.

Anybody?

Nick,

I'll pick you up one weekend and we'll go down to GM Sport Salvage in San Jose. They usally have some engines laying around (for far too much). If you don't find something you like we can at least find out what you like and determine a budget.

You over in the Sac town? Sounds like a great idea - I'll get some more info from ya.

Found this: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/pts/300337508.html

Sounds like that shortblock would need some machine work too, but pretty good price? Maybe it makes more sense going with a new block with a warranty...

Call your local machine shop and see if they will sell you a shortblock. My guy sold me a roller 350 block all machined and ready to go for 250, just needed a rotating assembly, that was awhile back. I think you can get a shortblock from GM for about 1,100-1,200 bucks. What is your budget?

Well, I was distracted today obviously. We can plan on next Saturday morning if you are available. I'll tell you now, I've never seen full engines over there for less than 1K but if you've never been to this place it's worth to go. It's a lot of fun walking about a Camaro/Firebird only boneyard.

GM Sports Salvage

I'll call you the later part of next week.
