decision time

i think its getting awfully close to that time for me to part ways with my firebird. its been having some issues lately that im getting sick of dealiing with, and im not as ready/willing to put down the money into the car. gas mileage is a pain, ive put a lot of miles on the car too. ive had to endure starting issues because of the headers. (i installed a remote starter solenoid and the hot start issue is gone + heat wrapped the starter) and now theres some electrical issues with it. the battery keeps draining for no apparent reason and i just dont want to spend the money to fix it.

i probably will end up paying to get it fixed, but after that im going to look for a more reliable DD.

just a rant i guess. dont be surprised to see a FOR SALE post from me in the coming weeks.

BESIDESSSS i have the 91 to play with

Re: decision time

just about all SBC end up have hot start problems. my Iroc would do it every now and then, and my formula was heading in that direction. mini starter usually fixes that problem.

How is the 91 coming along?

well when its a daily driver, i just cant have that type of worry. along with the other stuff i mentioned. the 91 hasnt progressed because ive been spending more time trying to keep the 86 on the road. that and summer school. but like i said, i give up on the 86. so the rest of my money is going towards the 91 and the leftovers will go towards a more reliable daily driver.

My 98 z28 has been a great Daily driver. Leave it stock and its trouble free, even now at 155k miles!

i dont doubt it, my 91 RS went 250k miles before it started having issues. they were simple issues, but i didnt have a job to fund it.

Re: decision time

Ron,

I think you have a bum starter happening. e Hitachi may solve all your problems. I haven't had any probems with my starter and heat with the headers since they have been installed.

I think I just jinxed myself.

Anyway, if the starter is your only problem the replacement may have that problem solved. Now: about that gas mileage...

hehe

Re: decision time

check that. DID have a hitachi mini-starter. that damn thing didnt fit. using either set of mounting holes, one way it the gear went past the flywheel, the other way the gear woudlnt reach the flywheel.
