Air/Smog Pump

I have a horrible noise coming from my smog pump!!!! It is making a grinding sound and it is really noticeable when you are giving it gas, My question is i was thinking of removing the pump and gettin a delete pulley for it. Can i just install the pulley and leave the tubing and black box there or do i have to remove the tubing and and plug up the holes on the manifolds??

Re: Air/Smog Pump

Ever plan on passing smog testing again? If not, yank it. If so, replace it.

Re: Air/Smog Pump

Like Mike said, If you need to smog, better off replacing it, if you don't want to smog, get the delete pulley. Don't worry about the rest of the pipes, you can yank those out as well if you go the delete route.

On second thought, with just the purchase of a new belt, you can reroute it with the smog pump removed and everything else will function as normal, I did this a while back.

Re: Air/Smog Pump

yes and you can leave everything attached the valves on the smog tubes are one way so if no pump is pumping then your all good.
