Chin Spoiler hardware issues/88 to 1992 switch..
I pulled my old front spoiler to replace it with the91-92 'airo' unit and came up with some issues with the hardware and fastener points.
Have any of you made that switch and understand the mounting point differences?
On the very front nose of my old one, all the fasteners have been rivited onto the plastic. Is this normal or is it from someone's prior repair??? The original fastener brackets show that they've been bent up and straightened somewhere in the past. I am also having an issue with fitting the hardware into the middle part of the fender sides and there's a couple different attatched plastic tabs on the new spoiler that arn't on my old one. So before I go further, I thought I should check with the rest of you.
Just trying to be careful; Nitro

When I first got my car, it was smashed on the passenger side. I put a 82-90 fender on it, and had to cut slots in it for the tabs on the 91-92 front chin spoiler. Not a big deal.
Under the spoiler in the front its attached to the radiator support with plastic push in rivits.

Kevin, Shoot Buddy; Do you have any idea as to how many times over the past three years you've kicked in quality info that I've needed asap? Seriously; Last night I was going through a binder of info I had printed out from my first 4 posts on this board. Coincidence? You responded to one of those initial posts and pointed me over here to the North Cali forum
Okay, I'll shut up now. But really; almost 3 exact years ago to the day you chime in again with a needed answer.
Now that you mention the plastic rivits; I can see what's supposed to be there. These were apparently replaced with big aluminum rivits from a repair shop. I'll have to head over to the dealership parts bin and see if I can get the correct brackets and plastic pop-ins.
Hmmm; pop-ins. Suddenly I got a visual of Mary gay Poppins and I transfered that to my car jumping gayly around with an ambrella with an English sounding exhaust note. I don't like that picture, so strike the work 'pop-ins' and correct it back to 'rivits' while I go ask my mom to up my medication pronto

I'm always happy to help and offer my opinion, good or bad.
I made a mistake above, though. The chin spoiler rivits attach to the bumper bracket, not the radiator support. The air dam attaches to the radiator support.
