March 20, 2010 GTG - BBQ/Swap Meet/Sac Raceway day!

Okay all - This seems to be the popular choice of date/venue, so let's have a head count and mention if you want to bring something bbq and/or parts wise for swap/sale.

Probable items needed (feel free to mention whatever I forget):
BBQ, tables, cooking skills, chips, other food, desserts, drinks/coolers/ice, etc etc.

2 months to prepare, so no excuses!!

Sat... Mar 20 2010 Test and Tune
General Admission: $10
Testing Fee: $50 car/driver
(You will get lots of runs in unlike a Wed/Grudge night)
Gates open: 10:00 AM . Testing: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Sadly most of you know what happend to my baby.
She still sits in my bro's driveway in kansas.
I would love to find a car agian.
I would just not be able to pay in full it would take a few paychecks debending on the price.
Thankfully If i find a roller I have the engine trans an rear exle to swap into it.

By the way I am back from afghan woot.

Re: March 20, 2010 GTG - BBQ/Swap Meet/Sac Raceway day!

I will try my best to make it. I leave March 22, so it will be close and I don't know if I need to tie some stuff up at home before I leave. I really am going to try and go though!

I have a sub box set-up for 2 12's I am trying to sell... If anyone wants it, ill bring it.
I also have 2 TPI intake manifolds ill sell for $20 each. Both are stock.

Basically, if someone buys my sub box or Intake Manifolds, ill make it. If not, I doubt ill have the money.

Vinny, is Mikey going? If so, have him bring me that Throttle Body.

Here is a pic from the Mels Diner GTG last January - Joey, who decided to park next to the show stopping tercel... Lets try and get more thirdgens!

Keep 'em coming folks.
I want to see "definitely going to be there" so we know what to count on.
If I see "I'll try to make it", I'm going to hold off adding until you tell me otherwise.
Thanks!

The question is, what car are you looking for at what price range and condition?
I ended up getting a lower mileage formula so I'll be selling my 89 TBI that I went to last GTG in. I got the EGR valve replaced and passed smog easily after that. It's a little rough in condition, but cheap. A little smoke on startup due to valve seals leaking, but runs and starts great with no trans issues. Maybe there are guys with cars available if you specify what price range and stuff.

We'll be bringing the BBQ to the track.

Can we count on you for sure knightbandit88? Why wouldn't it pass the testing? I'll add you to the list if so.

I'm adding you Marc, obviously, since you sparked this idea.

I have a friend that owns a towing company, his motto is "it doesnt cost an arm or a leg, just a tow"

As far as the smog, i dont remember anything too out of line for passing the inspection. Whats up with the computer? Are your wheels on? if so any pics?
Your car has to be there, especially with those new wheels of yours.

No wheels this time.. Rears are an inch too wide and stick out from the fender, so I have to narrow the rear a couple inches. But the next GTG it will be done for sure.

Are you thinking of narrowing the rear axle or changing the rims to a narrower ones?

They check to make sure nothing is loose in the engine compartment. Major factor being that your battery is held down in place correctly. They got me on that the last time I was there. Due to many problems, there is that one highlighted section in red

So are we set on food and supplies, Del? I can bring a couple 6 foot tables if you think we may need them, let me know if there is anything we need.

Hey John, I think at least 1 6ft table would be good and if you want to bring any other food/dessert to go with the dogs that works too.

Do we have a gas BBQ and ice chests? I realize we still have almost 2 months to this, but it's good to be prepared!

Good Luck at that PNP.. So many puddles, kinda frustrates the trip to get some good parts. I had to leave cause every car I was tryin to get parts from I had to swim to get to.. hahaha... There is a white 92 RS toward the back of the lot. Damn near complete..

tortuga7708 - Just bring some $$ for racing or spectating.
Vin - Still have over a month, figured it was too early to push out any reminders to show up. Always last minute changes for folks.

Have you priced how much it cost to get the rear housing/axle narrowed? I'm sure it would be somewhere from $800 and above. That does not include the removal and installation of the rear end.

Yeah, there is a place over in this area named Jaws, they have the blue Supra TT thats we see at the track from time to time. Anyways they Quoted me about a grand to narrow it and rebuild it with custom aftermarket axles, blah, blah. I just have to pull it from the car and take it to them empty. All I know how to do is yank the axles. Either way Ima get it done after the GTG. for now Ima roll stock. Plus Im waitin on Ed to finish the brackets for the C5 rear brake setup, I only wanna yank these axles once, ya know?

Re: March 20, 2010 GTG - BBQ/Swap Meet/Sac Raceway day!

You know I have been looking at rear end as well. I'm sure there are other options without needing to narrow the housing and you will have a stronger rear end. Yes, the Ford 9" and GM 12 bolt comes to mind. I'm going to measure the width of the rear end today. I wanna know the exact measurement then research begins.
