Re: Hi performance shops Sacramento

When I "totaled" my 'ROC a while back the body shop was bitching about "storage fees" after 1 month!

Hate to see what 8 months storage fees would look like...

They must be using it as the beer run / donut fest vehicle / lunch wagon

Did you write down the mileage?

Re: Hi performance shops Sacramento

Your license plate doesn't say "HONK X3" does it? I was just chatting with Mark the other day and I think he mentioned a similar setup as yours.

Really though, what's the shop name and what's wrong with it? Must be epic.

I'm lucky to have unlimited storage at Bennies' house/shop haa.

Re: Hi performance shops Sacramento

I think a shop can only charge storage fees when they complete a vehicle and the customer has been notified it is ready to be picked up.

If they are taking thier time i'd hope they wouldnt charge storage fees. I know my old man doesn't.

Did they purchase parts from Afghanistan and were waiting for them? I can understand the delay if so.

Re: Hi performance shops Sacramento

all that work and its probably a bad fuel pump! haha. or since it was a conversion a bad wire connection or something....crazy to take that long! never ever tell a shop to take thier time! my advice. paint shops are even worse than repair shops!

Re: Hi performance shops Sacramento

Yeah it is. But he said they changed it. But I guess the replacement could be bad. especially if they got a rebuilt cardone unit. Gotta get the GM ones if you want them to last! If I ever have an LT1 im converting from optispark as first mod!

I wanted to say that but I held back....

I mean GM ran that engine in cars for what 6 years? then shitcanned it. when that happens you know thier are problems. just like the vortec engines. The heads are good. but overall those engine were not as reliable as the TBI setups. And of course not as reliable as the older chevy engines. Hence why they ran the vortec 5.7 from 96-00/01

Thanks for all the good words. We should be able to get it running & pinpoint the problem.

Call me at the shop & we can discuss it.

What did Mark Roman say? I'm sure he can recommend someone to figure out the problem.

It was the opti sparkThe shop that had it before put three different ones in and never got it right. They had it for months and eventually gave up and kept my $1200. Thanks to the recommendations from this thread I called Rocklin Automotive . Marc and his crew diagnosed the car in a couple of hours. When they said it was the opti i thought oh **** here we go again. But he told me if it isn't the opti you don't have to pay. A short time later he called and said its ready to go. Long story short the car runs great now. Marc and his shop did what two other shops couldn't . Rocklin Automotive is the bomb. I was impressed with the enthusiasm and confidence they showed .

What did Marc replace the opti with then; given that the other shop(s) kept replacing the opti already? I love to learn; thus why I'm asking. And, thanks for the replies!

Factory distributor fixed it. AC Delco doesnt hold the patent on it so you can prolly find anywhere, but make sure it has the gel coating on it.

That is very key. Thier are a lot of cheaper option for the distibutor, cap and rotor summit sells them cheaper options but they will fail unless they have that gel coat finish. I only use AC delco when we change those too.
