Real life changes.
Today was official that I was offered a new job. I will now be working at Cache creek casino outside of Woodland. This is good for me and my new family on the way. I now work full time like a real person with a better base pay as well over what the current job was paying. This means two things. I will be looking to relocate in the next few months to either the Woodland or Davis regions. Anyone have input?
Secondly, This may effect the Santa Cruz trip. I have to wait a week or so and see how things pan out with my new schedule as my requested time off from my current job is no longer valid.

Lifelong friend of mine is slot tech at Cache Creek. I am sure you'll end up meeting him there. He works mostly nights now that I know of.
Just tell them your sister's wedding, family reunion or something!

Congrats on heading into adulthood with jobs/kids ahead.
I was wondering why the FB posts for those places. I'm sure you didn't want to jinx it.
Woodland closer, Davis nicer.
Have you not been to either before or something?
I dated a gal 7-8 years ago that was finishing up her degree at UCD, so spent some time there and also a little in the last few years when my X moved there to work at UCD Vet clinic. Davis is safe, nice downtown, a little snooty and full of bicyclists/college kids. Depends where you pick to live I guess.
Not much to say about Woodland. Small town, prob grown in the past 5-10 years and has more affordable housing than Davis.

Re: Real life changes.
My friend Will said Davis is full of liberals that would want to take my iroc and blow it up. Is this true?
I should be making decent cash and wouldn't mind shopping for a duplex or house with a garage. garage is very important to us car guys as we all know.
I drove through both towns and I do like Davis better. Either driving distance is a lot closer and tolerable then coming from Folsom.

Not sure what blowing up your IROC has to do with people that support constitutionalism, democracy, free and fair elections, human rights, capitalism, and the free exercise of religion.
Do they have more yuppies / hippies that may be more environmentally aware than other areas you're used to? Sure. Just don't go spewin' fumes and smoke driving that thing near campus trying to take out any bicyclists and you'll be fine.
I enjoyed many a good meal/drink in Davis. Diverse restaurant selection.
I don't know what they do or eat in Woodland. Taco trucks and In&Out? They probably make the short drive to Davis.

I do know the campus police in Davis think they're undercover Navy Seal's (having been a college rent a cop myself) or somehow in line for a filming shot of "COPS". I'd be tempted to check out which town has the most listed speed traps and hidden Camera's. (what; me paranoid? Nope. It's just that if someone takes a picture of you, it captures part of your soul) {....unless you're a vampire and invisible to the camera lens...}
As far as Right Wing Davis Enviro Radicals; just put some 'Prius' nameplates on the Bat-car - they'll never know the difference and torch/fire-crotch/blow up someone's 5.0 instead....

Re: Real life changes.
Well I can remember the first time being pulled over for 'noise pollution' in one of those **** ''I've got a badge& you don't"- towns. Gee Wizz, I didn't even have an amplifier on the two speaker set, yet- and this guy wanted to take me to prison for the rest of my life because I didn't recognize his authority while he was driving off duty in his off duty personal car, in his off duty personal clothes and didn't have an off duty badge with him to wave around (that was another college area I'd just moved to & was warned about). This guy was having an under the collar full on Jethro Tull stage siezure; he was so emotionally obfuscated!
The town law even tried to pinch me one night a few weeks later for giving a co-worker a jump-start. (The cop was deleriously rookie happy, waiving his baton around and excitedly talking about how I was driving on the wrong side of the road, therefore I must be drunk/ how I had my headlights intentionally on bright just to harass an officer of the law (so he called for back-up). Fortunately the officer's back-up was much calmer and could see that I was on a side street standing outside my truck with a set of jumper cables, and my bright headlights turned out to be just a brand new set of Halogen headlamps.
anyhow, this type of stuff can be fairly typical of small town areas or college campus's. With Radar Detectors, and a handful of luck in court, I've never had a ticket stick to my licence ever. Once I got my own first 'badge' job for a college and later with the Sheriff's office, it was like stumbling across Harry Potter's magic Get out of Jail Free, Wand. Someone pulled me over- I just flashed the magic wallet insert, gave the secret handshake, and Jesus was my friend & Personal Saviour!
Hopefully, neither Woodland or Davis proper is like that and you find the extra large garage where your toolz are safe and there's plenty of parking for extra vehicles! Sorry for the rant. I hate the power-trippers...... It makes me want to become a Liberal, find a (ford) muscle car and blow it up! (but only after ripping off my shirt and pouring skunk beer all over my self while screaming the alphebet backwards)
