Distributor question

Axle/Gears: 3.73
Distributor question

Hi all I have a 84 trans am 5.0ho 700r4 I got a msd hei street fire dist with ignition box and canister coil and it has a vacuum advance and my stock is computer controlled can I run the msd I bought or will I have issues running that dist. If I can run it what do I do with the vacuum advance portion ? Do I just run vacuum from the manifold or carb? Thanks for the help

if you have a computer controlled distibutor now..you really need a replacement one like it. im not that familiar with the early computers with carbs but everything works in unison with eachother. Now if you changed your carb to a regular holley, edelbrock, demon that wasn't computer controlled then you can run your setup. (it is probably better to do that, but it isn't smog legal)

Smog legal is the key. Stick with an HEI cap distributor and save the headaches.
