So are winter projects going to end on time

I was just curious since just about everyone has winter projects up in the air right now-- if anyone has a date in mind to get their cars out and ripping up the streets. I guess I really just wanted to know if there were going to be more cars under covers or cruising this spring.Since last summer most of the cars around here were put up pending projects.

Right now, the project is getting the car to run normally again. Then in the spring, LT1 intake and Hooker Super Comp headers go on.

hmmm......well we're not goign to discuss my winter project since you've all seen pic's on that thread i started.
I almost have that 305 rebuilt completely, just waiting on a crane cam to arrive probably tomorrow and then i'm ordering a new oil pump/pickup and I'm done buying parts for that motor. So it'll be done by end of January. YAY

Just the rest of the car to put together now

Oh well, and 9D1burd, if you have any ?'s on that engine swap let me know.

Well the kinda minor one of putting a new REAL sound system in the NiteRider is done and well worth every penny. Sure makes driving more enjoyable when the bass really goes BOOM. See attached pic of the sounds head unit.

Now the major may be a late winter project of doing a motor swap. LFN AT U has the motor so that is a start. Need more funding.

well i see that most of the projects may be nearing an end just in time for the nice weather.....thats good... i would like to see a good amount of kick-*** cruisers out on the roads this summer.

hopefully with a little motivation on my end we can get all of our cars out this spring (running and looking good)... Nick got some new toys for his TA for x-mas so hopefully he will want to play in the garage more often.......i bought him a roll-cage for x-mas and he got some other things so we will see....as for me car...nothing new yet..just working on the fine-tuning part of it this winter.

Nikki

ps --Tim whenever you need the help on your car just let us know.

Hope it'll be done in time for TG Nats 2003.

My car is finally coming around. And I'm regretting not finding the time to swap the long blocks at home. At least I don't have to pay for the swap, my dad finally convinced me to let him pay for a mechanic to do it. And I really didn't have the time to swap them anyways. Nor have I ever done it, so the swap would take me 3 times as long to do it. But all the peices are sitting at my house.

$490 - (4) BF Goodrich G-force KDWS in 245/50/16
$360 - (4) Used gold 16" GTA rims. Pretty nice, needs some TLC though.
$445 - Completely new stereo/speakers since I had none.
And I still have a few odds and ends to clean up.

Decided to hold off on spending for some SFC's and a STB as I really don't know what else my come up with my car. Stupid projects NEVER cost what you think they will.

I know i spent WAY more money than I wanted to, but at least I have a brand new engine to take care of.

I estimate that it will be completely done by early Febuary. And I'll start driving it in march when the weather should start to warm up enough.

winter project

I just got my winter project done - rebuilding the engine! I had my 350tpi taken out and shipped to Van Senus in Hammond IN. Got new rings, pistons, heads, valves, etc. Got it back this week and am in the middle of putting on the first 500 miles. It kind of hurts because I can't drive it over 70 till I get to that 500 mark and change the oil. Everyone passes me on the north end of Cline Ave. (IN) and the expressways. Next week tho, look out! Just so everybody knows I have '89 GTA, maroon with a black cloth top.
So if you see me on the road, get out of my way or I'll run yer *** over!

By the by what are the third gen nationals???

'89 GTA 'vert stock - don't mess with perfection.

Welcome to the boards. The 3rd gen Ntls is going to be a huge 3rd gen meet on the east coast (not sure where exactly, I won't be going since my car is out of commission for a while). There's a board dedicated to it, called "Thirdgen Nationals '03". I guess they're expecting over 100 3rd gens. It's on a weekend in May I think. Or June? Anyway, go check it out.

Its just a gathering of thirdgen nutcases who want to confirm that they are not crazy for loving the thirdgen f-body. Also, its so that we can drool over other peoples cars. ^_^

Its supposedly going to be the biggest gathering of thirdgen's ever.

...update...

Well, ive been gathering parts like a pack rat.I want to do a t5 swap into my '91rs,and somehow ive ended up with 3 t5's,and enough parts for just about 2 swaps.I havent started the swap yet,i cant find the motivation.Since im going to be pulling the trans,im gonna pull the 305tbi also. This motor will be needing a new home as ive got something
better in mind.I WILL be looking for a posi unit, and some 245/50/16's(4).
I havent even looked at the iroc, its tucked away in the barn for now.Its gonna wait until spring.
The z28 needs a motor of course, and ive been looking into a few,but i havent found nothing worth putting in yet.Maybe ill go with a 377,what do yas think? The car already has a rebuilt BW 5sp,and 9 bolt rear.
...so many thirdgens,so litle time.....

lol,Gary

it's looking like everything i'm doing will be said and done by the time the track opens in the spring. I've got new shocks and struts, will be converted over to fuel injection, new ignition, new interior, new trans, on the bottle...i've almost got all the parts...and i've got two months to get it all done...and it all has to be done after 5pm, and i'm only getting about two days a week to work on it, thats due to school and the girlfriend...grr, what are they good for anyway? But yea, it should be done.

91RS status

The RS has a new motor, just put it in last weekend. 350 w/vortec heads, SLP headers and a comp cam. The work that went in before hand included painting the engine bay to match the rest of the car (color change).

I just finished getting the driveline together and logged some WinALDL data while it was sitting in the garage idling. Data is encouraging, doesn't look like chip mods will have to be too extreme. Car idles very well, even at ~900 RPM.

As far as a date to bring it out adn drive it, I guess I'll wait until we get some heavy rains to wash all the salt off the roads. Especially after tonight!

Pic attached shows the car before the motor was put in. I think I took it in October.

Best-

This Denny's. Check the post above. I have a big thirdgen party every Memorial Day weekend. I'm hoping to get at least 35-40 cars this year. Actually, 50 would be great!!! As you can see, I've always got a ton of my own around. I'm supposed to be picking up another one today. (That makes ten!!!) Hopefully by the party I'll be down to five or six. It looks like I'll have a good turnout this year but all these thirdgen parties seem to have a lot of no-shows!!!

I AM WE TALL DID

That reads "I am retarded". I thought they were talking about Denny's- the resturant!

Is your location (address) posted on these boards? I've looked but do not find it.

I cannot confirm I will be down, but will make every effort. It sounds like a good time.
The clutch, motor and brakes in my car are all brand new- that is a lot of potential stuff to go wrong on a fairly long drive. But like I said- will make all efforts to show up.

Thanks,
S-D

Actually, I'll post all that stuff as the party gets closer. I'm only about 30 minutes south of the south side of Chicago so I'm not that far away.

Actually, I'm bringing mine home to get STARTED on it this Saturday (if you don't count collecting parts as starting). We just had a baby girl on Feb 21st and everything had been on hold for a few months.

Memorial Day weekend is my target date to paint it, so I definitely won't be driving my Firebird to Denny's. I would like to meet you guys... will you throw rocks at me if I show up in an Isuzu Rodeo?
