Busted taps :-(

Starter bolt hole was messed up on the new 383. No big deal right? Wrong! While tapping, I managed to crack the tap off in the block. Not a good situation at all. Good news to it was the fact that they do indeed make tap removers for this situation. I borrowed one from the machinist/eng builder and it worked out great.

Orignal problem was someone earlier down the line had mangled a thread way up in the hole, so when i went to tap it, it broke the entire thread out :-( Got the taps out and have the helicoil and bit to fix it and she should be as good as new.

No I'm not a rookie and I've tapped untol amounts of hole snad not once broken a tap of any size, let alone two like i did.

That's why if I have to go fix a car at someone else's house, and they ask: "do I need anything specialfor you to do the job (tools or parts)?"

Answer:

1-BEER

2-earplugs if you have religous neighbor's
