Need someone to do a winter modification for me...
Well I know it is June but I know what my major modification for this winter is. I want to put rear disc brakes on and remove the drums. So I will probably buy a rear from Denny (LFN AT U). And since the axel will be gone I might as well have the gas tank dropped and replace the fuel pump (upgrade) since it has never been done. Although I am not having problems with the fuel pump replacing it with a better one should buy me another 15 years.
Any suggestions on which rear to install? The one out of an IROC or a 91-92? Is there a difference?
Any suggestions on fuel pumps? Which model / brand should I get?
Anyone with experience doing this that wants to make a few bucks? I plan on parking my car Nov. 1st. Would like to do the swap before Thanksgiving if possible. If not then after the holidays.
If this is something you can do for me please post here or pmail me.

cal-i-per.
PBR calipers are aluminum and actually work. Earlier steel calipers (Saginaw?) have a bad habit of not working.

As far as the calipers go no one would still have the Early steel ones on their cars right? Most people would be using an aftermarket one at this point. So do we ask for aluminum calipers when we repair or are they still selling steel ones?

Yep, the early ones are still around. I was thinking about it earlier and they're actually iron, not steel, and they're Delco-Morainne [sp?], not Saginaw.
They have a different caliper bracket and bolt spacing. I believe they were 10.5" discs instead of the ~12" for the PBRs. You have to ask for whatever setup you have when you get parts.
Most people aren't using aftermarket calipers, unless you consider remanufactured ones aftermarket. Aftermarket to me is Wilwood, Strange, Brembo, etc. If you look at aftermarket kits, make sure you get one that's designed like the PBRs with sliders/guide pins so that the caliper can move. Fixed calipers don't really have a place on a C-clip rearend in my opinion.

As for your fuel pump. I have replaced three of themm and let me tell you it doesn't become more fun the next time lol. The filler neck on the gas tank does not always like to come out. As far as pumps all of the pumpas are made by walbro so just search only for the best price. you should be able to find one for under 130 if you looka little. The other way you can go is to order one that comes with the wirning upgrade with it liek the kit from Racetronix so when you make more power down the road you have enough voltage to power your pump.

Steel calipers will get rusty. They might have a Zinc wash from the factory, but don't count on it. Aluminum calipers will always be a dull grey, unless they're old and have been exposed to Midwest salt and they might get a little powdery white looking if they aren't covered in brake dust.
