So I just ordered a MegaSquirt II for my car, and am really exited to finally have my car run correctly! I also ordered all the parts to connect the stock wiring harness to the MS.

I will keep you all updated on the progress when I get everything in.

Megasquirt 3 just came out! Not that it really matters it has pretty much the same capabilities. Did you get the assembled board? What else did you get? wideband?

Yeah I know the MS III just came out but its kinda pricey. Yeah the capibilites are almost the same. I got the assembled board and I already have and Innovative wide band on the car which will be hooked up to the MegaSquirt.

your set to roll, I'm still wiring up my MSII with the stealth ram, and essentially building a wiring harness from scratch which is no fun. Will you be using the MSII to control the cooling fan? If so I need some pointers

Re: So I just ordered a MegaSquirt II for my car...

The car finally runs on the Megasquirt!! It was extremely easy to set up in terms of the wiring. I put together the adapter board which made everything a breeze. All I had to run was a vacuum line from to the Megasquirt and run an air temp sensor. I only had it on for a minute or two because it got really late, but this week I am going to hook up the wide band to it and let the computer do the tuning for me. I should have some pictures up soon. I cant wait to have it all done!

Kevin, how does the MS2 use the WB for its o2 readings?

If so does it filter it to narrow band or use the entire spectrum?

If you don't mind me asking what has the project cost you so far? I'm not planning on jumping away from my LT1 anytime soon, but its always good to know these things.

Bill the Megasquirt uses the entire band of the wideband for tuning. You literally drive around and the computer does the tuning for you. Now it would be very unrealistic to say that you do not have to mess around with it to get it going but it is by far leaps and bounds over chip burning!

I have about $500 in to the megasqirt. The megasquirt II cost $405 and the adapter board was $85 I believe and the little components I had to solder on were under $10. I had to buy some really thin gauge solder, a solder sucker and a solder wic but that is is just all nice stuff to have any ways.

Now last night we have gotten the furthest on the tune. We had it out data logging and got a pretty nice tune on it so far. We had a spark advance issue that we finally solved. The problem was the car would not start with the timing advance spout attached. The problem ended up being user error, we selected the wrong input in the software. We figured out the issue of the primary cooling fan so now that is controlled by the megasqirt as well. That is why the adapter board was the best thing I did for this, i just had to run a vacuum line to the Megasqurt and that was all.

The only problem we are having is that the idles pretty high. Besides that the car has never run smoother and and does cam (run rough) as much as it did before. As long the the car will haul *** I will not miss it.
