Thirdgen Fest '06 will be our fifth year!!! Wow, it doesn't seem that long. We're thinking of doing something for everybody that has been to all of them next year. I know there's not too many of us because the first one was really small.
We really haven't decided too much for next year yet. We've got some big plans for future events but some a probably a little to big to get in place next year. Once again everybody told us this was the best Thirdgen Fest yet. Of course, it gets harder and harder to make each year better than the previous year.
Thirdgen Fest '05 definitely had a lot of additions over previous years so we weren't sure how smoothly everything would go. However, we felt everything went nearly perfect. The Friday night party had a good turnout and people seemed to like it. Also, the first year of awards went really well. Having the participants vote kept everybody busy and made it much more fair. Also, the cruise was very unorganized in 2004 and many people got lost. Everybody said this year's cruise was great and many people said it was the best part of the event.
With that said, most people seem to think the party is great just the way it is so we only plan to make some minor additions for next year. Of course, the fees were a major issue for last year. However, we plan on keeping the costs the same for next year. One thing that may change is the raffle prize. We know that we are going to continue to raffle of cars some years but not every year. We're thinking about maybe raffling of a crate engine (ZZ4 ?) next year or possibly something like a complete suspension package, I'm sure we'll decide early next spring. I know we'll have other things like beanbags, etc. next year as well. We also plan on putting a lot more information in the registration packs such as motel information. Or course, that doesn't help the local people but it should make arrangements easier for the many people who come from out of town.
Of course, there's still lot's of time to plan for Thirdgen Fest '06. It's going to be tough but we're sure we can make it better than last year. We make improvements every year based on the feedback we get from the previous events so if you have any comments or suggestions feel free to post them here.
