why we neednt worry
THIS IS TAKEN RIGHT FROM A ***** WEB FORUM WHERE THEY WERE POSTING 1/4 TIMES....
THIS PROVES WE NEED NOT WORRY BOUT RICE
Here it is.. Proof that my car is slow.. For anyone that needed it
Run#, 60' time, 1/4 time, MPH
1. 2.793, 17.866, 77.23
*** 2. 2.254, 17.398, 78.34 ***
3. 2.778, 17.596, 78.01 (Howie got me with his 15.798 Run)
4. 2.688, 17.796, 76.34
5. 2.697, 17.741, 77.04
6. 2.582, 17.635, 76.98
7. 2.556, 17.652, 77.00
Note: I've got now clue how run #2 was my best.. My RT sucked 1.308, all runs after My Rt was Less than 1.000,

I've personally seen rice run low 13's at the track. I gauge them by how many decals they have. The overdecaled rice run an average of high 15's to low 18's... the stock looking rice run low 13's to low 15's.
I have NEVER seen anything better than a 14 second Talon with a loud waste gate! I have seen this one Civic that is yellow with a Greddy sticker on it go 16.5 and all the riced out junk running 15s and up! I have actually seen a Supra TT with tires go 14.0, and he actually lost to a near stock 5.0, on a 13.8 run!

There's plenty of people on here saying "I went to the track and ran 16's;" that ain't much to brag on either. Now, I'm not defending people who have a window covered in stickers and think they're the ****, but I think it's silly to say that those times mean a damn thing. Just as a 16-second timeslip says nothing about the potential et of a third-gen F-body, a 17-second timeslip says nothing about the potential of whatever car that guy was running.
This guy obviously doesn't know much about drag racing; note how he thinks reaction time is related to et. (Hint: it's not.) Hence, his car probably isn't modified much, if at all.
Of course, all that having been said, there's still no replacement for displacement, and a blown Rat is still the way to go.

The sad thing is that car probably spent (estimates) $200 for a wing, $80 for a muffler, $150 for a CAI or new intake. That's the sad thing.

Not that I'm a big fan of rice burners but some of those little cars can fly. Same deal holds true for all cars, the one you just dismiss as nothing may be the one to kick your butt.
The actual times are irrlevent in bracket racing anyway as that 17 sec car can easily take out a 10 sec ride. Like what was just said elsewhere; at least the kid is doing it. Too many just talk the talk.

But the majority of ones I see (Civics, Cavaliers) are slow as *****.

mark i agree w/ you 9 out of ten are slow
but you can say the same for alot of 3rd gens
think about this a bone stock 305 vs a modded l98 is the same as a 4cylinder cavelier vs a modded 3.1 v6 in there minds the v6 is fast.
why, i don't know. .maybe there all nuts

I was out at the track with some of my ***** buddies the other night. One ran a 18.6@73 in his 4 cylinder 4 door Galant, and the other a 17.0@82 in his 5 speed v6 Maxima.
The cool thing was the completely stock looking Supra, even no wing, that was running mid 10s@136 with no traction through the first two gears!
And my friends insisted it was stock.
They are learning though, and as stated, that is the good thing.

The last time I went there was a street driven Mustang (he drove from Mass to Lebanon Valley) and he went 9.52 at 149.27!!!
Oh ya there was a new Tiburon that went mid 16s a newer Cavalier that went mid to high 15s and a Lexus in the 15s!

What kind of trannies are those Talon's running? One of my friends runs a talon tsi @ about 15-20 lbs of boost and can only pull down 14's because the tranny won't shift right. It still needs work, stock everything except clutch, ign, turbo, and exhaust. (Over 200K on the engine too
