first time at the track
today i went to the track and had time to do 3 runs..
the first one i left it in 3rd and went throught the traps at 5300
FIRST RUN:
reaction: 1.09
60 ft. 2.402
330 ft. 6.427
1/8 et. 9.837
1/8 mph 72.24
1000 ft. 12.745
1/4 et 15.213
1/4 mph 90.93
the second run i cooled the plenum a little the ice melted so damn fast it really didnt ice it....this run i shifted into 4th at 4600 and also used a little to much clutch on launch
SECOND RUN
reaction: 1.087
60 ft. 2.251
330 ft. 6.23
1/8 et 9.608
1/8 mph 73.18
1000 ft. 12.493
1/4 et 14.936
1/4 mph 92.54
the third run i lit up the tires quite a bit (for a picture) i didnt cool the plenum just had the hood open and pushed it to the line
this run i still used to much clutch, but i actually used a little less then the run before i just didnt get the wheelspin cuz i baked the tires...i also shifted into 4th at 4500
THIRD RUN
reaction: .920
60 ft 2.272
330 ft 6.274
1/8 et 9.617
1/8 mph 72.34
1000 ft 12.479
1/4 et 14.892
1/4 mph 93.33
so i think if i would of baked the tires on the 3rd run but was a little more agressive on the clutch i think my 60ft could of been in the 2.10 range...i felt like i had atleast 2 tenths to pick up by gettin the launch down and shiften harder instead of takin it easy on it
i think my car has more in it then what i turned...i would like to know a better way to launch and shift...and all the stock 2000 and up gts werent all that impressive the quickest stocker i saw run was a 14.47 and there were about 50 stangs there

Id say that is good time for a 305 TPI. What gear do you have?
When you put in a new clutch, pressure plate, and throwout bearing. Do a tune up, and fix the exhaust leak, you will notice a difference.
Do the work and try it again. It take time to get good at the track. You have to know your car and how to launch it.
good luck, and keep tuning.

Why are you shifting to 4th so soon?
Baking street tires will slow you down. They aren't made for that stuff, and will actually get "greasy" if you warm them up too much. Typically, a quick turn to clean dirt/gravel off of them will produce the best results.
You need to leave when the last yellow lights up, then you'll get reaction times in the .5xx's. I know you're probably just interested in seeing how well your car runs, but in bracket race eliminations, those RT's will lose it for you every time.

the first run i kept it in 3rd and only ran a 15.21 at 91
the second run i shifted into 4th at 4500 and got another couple mph out of it...and it felt like it was pullin harder then when i left it in 3rd
and when i baked the tires my girl took a pic so thats why i did that...and my 60ft was about the same so i really didnt loose out...and i was a bit to easy on te clutch the last run so i know the 3rd run had a 2.10 60 fter in it
it was my first time at the track so r/t wasnt my biggest objective but u see that each run my r/t was better
